Happy Friday! We close out the week with a big 12-game slate that looks to have a bit of everything. We have several ace pitchers, led by Dylan Cease, and also a whole bunch of cheaper dart throws with some hope for upside. The hitting side looks pretty tangly after a couple of obvious top-tier teams, but I am hoping to find a few other favorites to hone in on. Let’s dive right in and see what we find.

Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

This pitching slate has options in all different pricing tiers, especially on DK, where the salaries are spread out far and wide. I’ll use $8,000 on DK as the cutoff between tiers tonight:

TOP TIER PITCHING

• Dylan Cease vs. Mariners – 36.1% K, 11.1% BB, 2.37 ERA, 3.01 SIERA
• Cam Schlittler vs. Red Sox – 30.8% K, 5.9% BB, 2.16 ERA, 2.92 SIERA
• Logan Henderson vs. Rangers – 29.9% K, 5.3% BB ,2.60 ERA, 3.10 SIERA
• Hunter Brown at Mets – 24.1% K, 13.7% BB, 3.51 ERA, 4.41 SIERA
• Reid Detmers vs. Phillies – 28.5% K, 7.3% BB, 3.62 ERA, 3.36 SIERA
• Shane McClanahan vs. Padres – 22.3% K, 8.1% BB, 3.10 ERA, 4.07 SIERA

Dylan Cease, Cam Schlittler, and Logan Henderson are a clear step ahead of the rest of the pitchers on this slate, which is reflected in the salaries as the three most expensive pitchers on both sites. As usual, the FD pricing is much more condensed, so the gap between these three and the rest of the field is not as dramatic, while on DK, they are very much in their own pricing realm.

While they are all great, it’s very easy to call Dylan Cease the SP1 if salary allows. He is the 2nd-highest strikeout pitcher in the league this season and has 7+ strikeouts in an incredible 18 consecutive starts. That kind of consistency is just unheard of, and they are showing no signs of slowing down on his massive pitch count either. In a world where a lot of pitchers don’t see 100 pitches once in an entire season, Cease has gone over 100 pitches in 11 of his last 12 starts. The matchup isn’t ideal for strikeouts, but the matchup hasn’t mattered at all for Cease, and he has the highest ceiling on the slate every time he takes the mound. Let’s just see what else we find before deciding how much we need to prioritize him at this salary.
