Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Friday 6/5

Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS picks

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to muse about the June 5, 2026 MLB DFS slate.

Happy Friday! We close out the week with a big 12-game slate that appears to be pretty spread out on both the pitching and hitting sides. There are several good pitchers up top, but we lack any big-name aces, with nobody above a 30% K rate this season. On the hitting side, the highlight is the Brewers in Coors Field, but the sites have done a really good job pricing them up to where it is not easy to stack them and be able to fill out the rest of your roster. I’m interested to see where I land, because at first glance, I’m really not sure.

Friday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

Weathers of the Yankees

We’ve got a top tier of six pretty good pitchers priced at $8,500 or higher on DK, but there are no elite aces who feel like must-play kind of pitchers at their salaries.

TOP TIER PITCHING

Parker Messick and Ryan Weathers are the most-expensive pitchers on both sites, and they are all the way up at $10,600 (Weathers) and $11,000 (Messick) on FD. Those salaries seem a little silly at first glance, but maybe the $9,300 (Weathers) and $9,600 (Messick) on DK are a little more appropriate.

Parker Messick has been outstanding this season, only allowing more than 2 runs in only 2 of his 12 starts. Everything looks legit in his skills, and even at his 3.39 SIERA, this is an ace. I would still lean towards thinking that his strikeouts land more in the 23-25% range than his current 27%, but still, I don’t see any reason to doubt him as a very good pitcher. With all of the strikeouts in the Texas lineup against LHP, this is a very appealing matchup. Dating back to the start of last season, 7 of the 9 Rangers in the projected lineup are above a 23.5% K rate against LHP, and in the early going this season, the projected lineup has a collective 26.1% K rate with just a .149 ISO. Assuming they do try to get more right-handed, this boosts the upside of Messick, where he has a 28.5% K rate this season. I don’t think I want to pay $11,000 for him on FD, but at $9,600 on DK, I’d be very happy to start with him as my SP1.

Ryan Weathers has also been outstanding, with 7 starts of 7+ strikeouts and a very similar overall skill set to Messick. Just like with Messick, my best guess is that the strikeouts end up a tad lower than where they are now, but even if they do, this is still a very good pitcher. The Red Sox can end up with 7 righties in the lineup, but while these are generally lower-strikeout righties, it’s a very low-power and nonthreatening group. If you just compare the skills of Messick and Weathers against righties, Messick comes out ahead, and then also adding in the higher strikeouts for Texas, I will side with Messick slightly ahead of Weathers. If salary just doesn’t matter, I’d start DK lineups with Messick and Weathers, but let’s see what we find in the cheaper tiers.
