Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Monday 4/27

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the April 27, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Monday! We open the week with a smaller 7-game slate on DK that is starting a few minutes earlier than normal (6:40 PM ET. FD is leaving the early STL/PIT game off of their main slate, so that will be a 6-gamer starting at 7:07 PM ET. There’s a pretty good mix of pitching and offenses to like, so at first glance, I see several different paths to building lineups.
The MLB weather looks a little dicey in the LAA/CWS game and, to a lesser extent, in the SEA/MIN game. For now, I’m assuming they both play, but be sure to keep an eye on those closer to lock.
Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

We have a decent pitching slate, where the top three have a clear-enough edge and salary gap that I am going to sort things into three different buckets.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Dylan Cease vs. Red Sox – 31.1% K, 10.2% BB, 4.23 ERA, 3.46 SIERA
- Max Fried at Rangers – 23.1% K, 6.4% BB, 2.78 ERA, 3.66 SIERA
- Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs. Marlins – 28.4% K, 7.9% BB, 2.49 ERA, 3.36 SIERA
Dylan Cease was at the top of his game in his last start, which was his 2nd 12-strikeout gem of the young season. Anyone who can strike out 12 batters in a game deserves to be at the top of the board, but let’s not go pretending like we have any idea what this guy is going to do on any given day. It’s pretty clear that the strikeouts are going to be there, but his control is all over the place, which can lead to innings issues, even with his high pitch count. He’s also someone I consider to be mostly matchup-proof – in both the good way and the bad way. What I mean by that is that he can be elite even in tough matchups, and he can beat himself even in easier matchups. Still, it’s certainly relevant, and I would consider this a plus matchup. Boston had decent power last season, though we haven’t seen it at all yet this season, and they have 5 batters above a 26% K rate against RHP so far this season. Cease is never going to be an all-in pitcher for me at high projected ownership because of the inconsistency, but I do have to call him the SP1.
Max Fried was also outstanding in his last start, with a season-high 9 strikeouts in 8 scoreless innings. Unlike with Cease, we can’t really count on the strikeouts, but despite a somewhat up-and-down start to the season, he’s a much more trustable, consistent pitcher than Cease. I would say that the matchup with Texas is an overall boost, as they have more strikeouts and less power against LHP. While it’s a small sample this early in the season, they are the highest-strikeout team in the league against LHP (29.7%). I slightly prefer Cease with his bigger upside, but Fried looks like a great option as well.
While Cease and Fried were dominating in their last starts, Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed 3 runs in the 1st inning against the Giants. But that’s where the bad news ends, as he rebounded to complete 7 innings without allowing another run, making it back-to-back starts of 7+ innings and 7 strikeouts, and he has a quality start in all 5 starts this season. He doesn’t have quite the same per-inning ceiling as Cease, but he was close last season, and I expect him to end up close again this season. To me, he’s like the perfect middle ground between Cease and Fried. If they all had the same matchup and salary, I would side with Yamamoto. As much as it still seems strange to say, facing Miami is not a good matchup, as they have struck out far less than the Red Sox or Rangers. This all makes for a very close top three. I’m still going to put…
