Happy Monday and War Eagle! Beyond the obvious good news of Auburn reaching the Final Four, I have some other very good news to start this week off right – the Yankees and their fancy bats are not playing today!! We get to wait until tomorrow to start dissecting that nonsense again, so for today, we are left with an 8-game slate that has a lot of unknowns from small sample size on the pitcher side. This leads us to a pretty clear top couple pitchers and then a very spread out group of offense to sort through.

If you’re playing the early 4-game slate that starts at 2:10 PM ET, we have Expert tags and blurbs available in our MLB DFS optimizer, LineupHQ, to get you pointed in the right direction.

Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

Dodgers starting pitcher Glasnow

We are down the bottom of the rotation for most teams, with the exception of one ace, followed by a small group of other solid pitchers. We then find a group of young pitchers — or inexperienced pitchers with some potential — but a lot of unknown.

AN ACE OR TWO AND SOME OTHER PEOPLE

We have just one established ace on this slate, Tyler Glasnow, and then a potential ace, Drew Rasmussen, depending on how heavily you want to weigh his 28 innings from last season.

The way I see this slate is that at least on the DK side, where you need two pitchers, I want as much of the one ‘sure thing’ as I can get. Of course, we know nothing is a sure thing in baseball, but we do know that Tyler Glasnow is an elite pitcher. We also know he was at full velocity in Spring Training, striking out 9 batters on 73 pitches in his last start. While the Braves have started off slowly, this is going to be a good offense, but they aren’t an especially low-strikeout offense. There are several interesting options that we’re going to look at, but where salary allows, I don’t see any reason to overthink it with Glasnow as the SP1.

Drew Rasmussen was incredible in his 4 starts plus 12 relief appearances last season, and while we can’t expect a repeat of the 30% strikeout rate, his past numbers tell us we can at least expect a repeat of the strong control and a ground-ball lean. Before an elbow injury ended his 2023 season, he was at a 26.6% K rate through 8 starts, so it’s at least worth hoping we see something in that range as his upside.
