Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Monday 5/4

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the May 4, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Monday and Happy May the 4th if that is one of those days that means something in your life! We have an 8-game slate that appears to be very evenly split between a clear top pitching tier and a clear top hitting tier. The good news is there are at least four options in each of those top tiers, so not everything can be chalky. Let’s dive right in and see what we find.
Monday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

We have a top tier with four pitchers priced at $9,000 and above on DK. The FD pricing is quite different, as they adjust quickly to current-season trends, but I’ll use the DK pricing to separate the tiers.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Cam Schlittler vs. Orioles – 28.9% K, 8% BB, 2.43 ERA, 3.38 SIERA
- Jose Soriano vs. White Sox – 22.7% K, 10.6% BB, 3.57 ERA, 3.82 SIERA
- Yoshinobu Yamamoto at Astros – 28% K, 8.2% BB, 2.56 ERA, 3.41 SIERA
- Logan Gilbert vs. Braves – 30.5% K, 5.6% BB, 3.57 ERA, 2.75 SIERA
At the start of the season, it would have been easy to rank this group: Logan Gilbert and Yoshinobu Yamamoto up top, followed by Cam Schlittler, and then a drop to Jose Soriano. It could still end up that way, but through 6-7 starts this season, it’s Schlittler who is the clear ace, Soriano a clear 2nd, and then a drop-off to Gilbert and Yamamoto. Let’s look at the 2026 numbers on their own:
Cam Schlittler – 31.4% K, 3.8% BB, 1.51 ERA, 2.52 SIERA
Jose Soriano – 30.1% K, 9.8% BB, 0.84 ERA, 3.22 SIERA
Logan Gilbert – 24.4% K, 5% BB, 4.03 ERA, 3.46 SIERA
Yoshinobu Yamamoto – 21.8% K, 6.1% BB, 2.87 ERA, 3.85 SIERA
Hmmmm…
Everything we’ve seen so far says Cam Schlittler is the best pitcher here, if not the best pitcher anywhere. The dude has a 49:6 K:BB ratio in 41 innings. He’s over 31% strikeouts with elite control to both sides of the plate and has given us no reason to think it’s fluky. Sure, he’s been lucky on batted balls, but the 2.52 SIERA shows what his numbers would look like even without that luck. The matchup has some power risk but also above-average strikeouts, and matchup has not mattered one bit to Schlittler so far. The best part is that I’m not even sure he’ll be chalk. I may still end up liking Yamamoto or Gilbert better for the salaries – maybe – but Schlittler is my SP1.
