Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks for Saturday, July 6th
CheeseIsGood, a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Saturday! Your usual Saturday compadre is off today, so you’re stuck with me for one more day. I’m not sure what Cards is doing, but one can only assume that he partied pretty hard for America and is taking time to recover. Perhaps he just stepped off a plane at LAX with a dream and a cardigan…and a Jay-Z song was on? Cards put his hands up, they’re playing his song, and the butterflies fly away. I don’t know…you can ask him when you see him tomorrow.
Anyhow, our main slate today is an 8-gamer starting at 4:05 PM ET. I love these Saturday slates when all the games have the same start time; it makes things a lot easier when we have all the lineups in. I’ll pop back in later with some quick Cliff Notes for the later 4-game slate that starts at 7:15 PM ET, and we’ll also have Expert Tags in our MLB optimizer, LineupHQ, for that later slate.
Saturday Afternoon Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
The pitching slate looks quite simple to break down into tiers and also pretty simple to find the top option from each of those tiers.
TOP TIER PITCHING
Garrett Crochet at Marlins – 35.3% K, 5% BB, 3.02 ERA, 2.38 SIERA
MacKenzie Gore vs. Cardinals – 27.2% K, 7.4% BB, 3.47 ERA, 3.48 SIERA
Hunter Greene vs. Tigers – 26.5% K, 10% BB, 3.70 ERA, 3.91 SIERA
Taj Bradley at Rangers – 31.6% K, 8.8% BB, 3.42 ERA, 3.18 SIERA
All four of these pitchers have strikeout upside, but only one of them is Garrett Crochet. Crochet has the highest K% and the best K-BB% of all major league starters this season, and he has the best matchup of this group on top of the elite skills. He’s been great and consistent, with 8+ strikeouts in 6 of his last 7 starts and double-digit strikeouts in 4 of them. You are allowed to overthink anything you want to, but my official recommendation is Don’t Overthink It.
Once we get past Crochet, we still have three more high-upside pitchers, and there will be some DK lineups where you can afford one of them as an SP2. The strikeout matchup is the best for…
