Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS picks

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the April 5, 2026 MLB DFS slate.

Happy Sunday and Happy Easter! We are going to kick this morning off with a few Cadbury Eggs, and you’re welcome to join me. Then we’ve got ourselves a 9-game slate on DK and a 10-game slate on FD. That extra game on FD is important to the hitting side as it’s the final game of the Phillies in Coors Field series.

There are a few dicey weather games, most notably with MIA/NYY and SDP/BOS, and possibly with LAD/WSH. These are all important games on the slate, so my plan is to build my lineups with those games included but have pivots ready to go that don’t include any of them if last-second swaps are needed.

Sunday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

Fried of the Yankees

We have another slate where the pitcher pricing is very condensed on DK. All 11 of these pitchers are priced between $7,500 – $9,000, so while I wouldn’t salary isn’t relevant, it’s not going to be the deciding factor for me with this group. FD pricing has a couple of these guys priced considerably lower, but the primary options are pretty bunched up there as well.

TOP TIER PITCHING

There is one pitcher here who really stands out from a strikeout perspective, and one who stands out for his real-life consistency. That is Chase Burns and Max Fried. And then, I’d say there is a third who stands out a bit as well in terms of strikeout and pedigree in Edward Cabrera. You could sort of put Ranger Suarez in that Max Fried category as well, and that gives you the top pitchers on this slate.

Chase Burns clearly has the highest ceiling in terms of strikeouts, and he should get his workload increased from the 78 pitches he saw in his first start. I would still not expect him to be fully unleashed, but he has the kind of stuff that can break a slate on 85 pitches. He may turn out to be so good that matchup doesn’t matter, and this is pretty close to an average matchup which neither helps nor hurts him. Even on a good pitching slate like this, and with him still being a bit of an unknown, he’s my SP1.
