Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS picks

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate.

Happy Thursday! We have an early start, with the main slate starting at 1:10 PM ET. We are right back to the same situation as the last couple days with the Dodgers way out ahead of the pack in both expected runs…and salary. Unlike the past couple days, we only have one spend-up pitcher, so there are more ways to make the Dodgers fit, but my initial lean remains the same with an underweight approach on Dodgers stacks.

It looks like we are going to have some MLB weather concerns to deal with in the SEA/MIN game. At this moment, based on that report, I am not including any players from that game in my lineups, but we’ll check back before lock, and I will list them in my rankings, as that would be a game for offense if it clears up.

Thursday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

Brown of the Astros

We have one ace in his own tier up top and then another six pitchers above $8,000 on both sites.

TOP TIER PITCHING

Hunter Brown is completely in a tier of his own, with a far better skill set than anyone else on this slate. However, he’s also completely in a tier of his own in salary, at least on DK. He is a full $2,000 more expensive than the next-closest pitcher, and while I think that’s warranted, my initial thought is that we can find two cheaper pitchers from this list. But on FD, it’s a different story, where he’s only $10,200 and pretty much anything outside of Dodgers and Cubs stacks will allow you go get to him without too much trouble.

The matchup for Brown is not great for strikeouts, but it really hasn’t mattered at all who he’s facing this season. He’s simply an elite pitcher who is almost always real-life great, and more often than not, DFS great. I’m playing him on FD, but let’s move on and see what else we find before deciding what to do on DK with this huge salary gap.

Brown’s opponent, Cristopher Sanchez, has the next best skill set on this slate, and he is also extremely consistent, with 13 straight starts of 3 runs or fewer. His strikeouts don’t spike as often as Brown’s, but the upside is there.
