Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Tuesday 7/28

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to muse about the July 28, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Tuesday! We have a better-looking slate than what we had last night, but it would be hard not to. Sometimes I wonder what is going on in a pitcher’s head when he is trying to so hard to throw a strike, but it just never happens. If it was me, I would be yelling at myself, “Come on, what Imai doing!?”
We have a 10-game slate on DK and a 9-game slate on FD (they are not including Game 2 of the CLE/CIN doubleheader). We also have one very important MLB weather issue, with the ATL/NYM game being at risk. This is a crucial game to the slate, with Chris Sale on the mound for the Braves and one of the only good cheaper pitching options for the Mets. For now, I’m including this game in the write-up, but I am preparing for the possibility of not being able to use those pitchers.
Tuesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

We have a solid-enough group of pitchers that there is still plenty to like even if Sale were to end up getting bumped from the slate. I’ll use $8,000 on DK as the cutoff between tiers.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Chris Sale at Mets – 29.7% K, 5.8% BB, 2.19 ERA, 3.04 SIERA
- Gavin Williams at Reds (DK) – 30.7% K, 7.3% BB, 3.78 ERA, 3.11 SIERA
- Gerrit Cole at White Sox – 25.9% K, 4.7% BB, 3.92 ERA, 3.52 SIERA
- Logan Henderson at Giants – 31.8% K, 4.7% BB, 3.05 ERA, 2.89 SIERA
- Peter Lambert at Angels – 23.2% K, 9.4% BB, 3.03 ERA, 4.27 SIERA
- Taj Bradley vs. Royals – 26.8% K, 9.6% BB, 3.69 ERA, 3.88 SIERA
- Justin Wrobleski vs. Mariners – 18.9% K, 5% BB, 2.62 ERA, 4.21 SIERA
- Reid Detmers vs. Astros – 27.6% K, 7.5% BB, 4.05 ERA, 3.55 SIERA
- Michael King vs. Rockies – 21% K, 10% BB, 3.24 ERA, 4.53 SIERA
Weather permitting, Chris Sale is the clear SP1, with his consistent skill set giving him a sparkling 2.19 ERA and only 1 start all season allowing more than 3 runs. (Sparkling? Could have just said really good) He has big ceiling games of double-digit strikeouts in only 3 of his 19 starts, but he can also pile up easy innings so fast that, even when he only gets 6-7 strikeouts, he’s still fantastic. Sparkling, you might say. This will just come down to weather, salary, and seeing what else we find, so let’s move along.
