Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Tuesday 6/24
Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate.
Happy Tuesday! We have a wild slate with a ton of very obvious upside on both the pitching and hitting sides. The slate is headlined by the Dodgers heading into Coors Field, but fortunately, the salaries have been raised accordingly. When adding in 7 good pitchers who are over $9,000 on DK and over $9,500 on FD, this slate is all about deciding where you want to deploy your salary.
There are a whole bunch of Yellows peeking out, but it appears that we’ll most likely be safe from any major concerns with the MLB weather, with the bigger story being that it remains hot and hitter-friendly in a lot of ballparks.

Tuesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
We have a great group of spend-up pitchers and then a pretty big gap to everything else. I’m going to split things up into more buckets than usual, just to help sort through what looks like a tricky slate.
TOP TIER TRIO
- Garrett Crochet at Angels – 30.8% K, 6.9% BB, 2.20 ERA, 2.89 SIERA
- Carlos Rodon at Reds – 30% K, 8.7% BB, 3.10 ERA, 3.24 SIERA
- Spencer Strider at Mets – 29.4% K, 8.5% BB, 3.89 ERA, 3.32 SIERA
Garrett Crochet just continues to roll through everyone, piling up strikeouts and innings in every matchup. He’s allowed more than 2 runs in only 2 of his 16 starts this season, while he has 7+ strikeouts in 11 starts. There’s really nothing to say other than he’s great, and he’s priced accordingly. While there is plenty of power in the Angels’ lineup, this is also the highest-strikeout lineup in the league against LHP. We’ll see what happens with salary as we move through the slate, but this is an SP1 worth spending on.
Carlos Rodon is something like Crochet-light. He’s slightly less trustable with the control, but still good, and he has almost as many ceiling games, but there are just a few more valleys in between. He is pitching in a ballpark with extreme power risk, but just like Crochet, this is an excellent matchup for strikeouts. On top of that, there is a remarkable lack of power in this lineup against LHP. Because of his salary, I would expect him to fly way under the radar, and I kind of love it. I certainly prefer Crochet, and it’s not realistic to pair them together in very many lineups, but he is my SP2.
As expected, Spencer Strider wasn’t quite as elite in a non-Rockies matchup, but he followed up his 13-K gem with another 8 strikeouts in 6 strong innings against these Mets. Over these last 2 starts, his velocity appears to have settled around 96 mph, which is better than where he started this season but also not quite back to pre-injury levels. Until something changes, I think the Strider we see is the Strider we get, which makes him basically as good as Rodon, with Crochet upside in a best-case scenario. The matchup is enough worse than Crochet’s and Rodon’s that I am still prioritizing getting up to Crochet. But with his discount, I’ll have more Strider than Rodon.
Overall, I love all three of these aces, and my initial instinct is to prioritize them over the Dodgers bats, but let’s wait and see what we find in lower tiers.
MORE ACES
- Ranger Suarez at Astros – 22.7% K, 6.1% BB, 2.20 ERA, 3.50 SIERA
