Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Tuesday 9/16
Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate.
Happy Tuesday! Baseball is back on center stage tonight with an 11-game slate starting at 7:10 PM ET. We do have a Coors Field game on the slate, but it’s weak enough teams that it doesn’t define the slate in the way we sometimes see in Colorado. We also have plenty of good pitching options in all different pricing tiers, so you should be able to build lineups in any way you like tonight.
Kevin Roth finally has some work to do today with the MLB weather, but it still looks more likely than not that everything plays cleanly.

Tuesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
We have a pretty deep pitching slate with quality options in every pricing tier. You could spread out far and wide, but I’m going to try and pick out a few favorites for primary lineups. The top three are just far enough ahead of the pack in salary and skill set to leave them as a top-tier trio, but you could draw the salary lines in a bunch of different places tonight.
TOP TIER PITCHING
- Freddy Peralta vs. Angels – 27.5% K, 9.4% BB, 2.69 ERA, 3.78 SIERA
- Logan Gilbert at Royals – 34% K, 6% BB, 3.54 ERA, 2.70 SIERA
- Cristopher Sanchez at Dodgers – 26% K, 5.8% BB, 2.57 ERA. 3.08 SIERA
This top-tier trio made me super uncomfortable the moment I opened this slate. In general, I am not a fan of Freddy Peralta chalk. And in general, I love Cristopher Sanchez. I am also enamored with Logan Gilbert’s skill set despite his inability to pitch deep into games on a regular basis. Because of these matchups, we are bound to see Peralta chalk, and as much as I want to, I really can’t argue with it. Gilbert is facing the lowest-strikeout team in the league against RHP, and Sanchez is facing the 5th-lowest strikeout team in the league against LHP. Meanwhile, Peralta faces the highest-strikeout team in the league against righties. I may not want to like Peralta chalk, but the numbers are what they are. On top of all this, Peralta has been even better against right-handed bats this season with a 30.1% K rate and 7.2% walks. Sure, there’s some power risk here, but he should be able to pile up enough strikeouts to survive even a 2-3 HR game. He is my SP1 on both sites.
I either want to start fading Peralta to spread out, or if I can go double aces on DK, I’d go Logan Gilbert and then Cristopher Sanchez. While a big strikeout game is unlikely from Gilbert, he’s as steady as they come with his elite skills and has a high floor. Much like with his teammate Ranger Suarez yesterday, I’m not scared off of Sanchez because of the matchup with the Dodgers. But I also wouldn’t expect this to be the spot for a ceiling game. I’m always going to assume Sanchez gives me a quality start, and I do like the low ownership on DK enough to leave him in the pool there. But again, for the most part, I just sadly like the Peralta chalk.
