Happy Tuesday! We’ve got ourselves a great 10-game slate that features a bunch of everything. We have three elite aces up top, along with three offenses starting with a projected total above 5 runs. Beyond those top-tier items, we find a pretty wide-open slate with a lot of room for differing opinions on both the pitching and hitting sides. Let’s dive right in and see what we find.

Tuesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

We have a very clear line between tiers today with three of the league’s best pitchers priced way up ahead of everyone else:

Wherever There Is Injustice, You Will Find Us – The Three Aces

• Jacob Misiorowski vs. Cubs – 38.3% K, 6.6% BB, 1.97 ERA, 2.29 SIERA
• Cam Schlittler vs. Rockies – 31% K, 6.2% BB, 2.04 ERA, 2.93 SIERA
• Tarik Skubal vs. Reds – 30.5% K, 4.2% BB, 2.86 ERA, 2.77 SIERA

These are three of the best pitchers in the world, all with clear slate breaking ceilings and high floors. They are also all priced between $10,700 – $11,700 on DK and $10,600 – $11,200 on FD, so we’re likely going to need something close to the ceiling to be worth it. On slates when we have just one elite ace, it’s more often reasonable to fade and just hope they have an OK game, rather than a slate breaker. But with three of them pitching, the odds increase that at least one of them is needed to win tonight.

I’ll start by saying that I don’t think anything is ‘wrong’ with Jacob Misiorowski. He had his worst start of the season last week, and the strikeouts have taken a big dip overall over the last month. His stuff still looks amazing, and while his velocity has moved around just a tad, I do not see anything even remotely concerning here. But I do think it’s completely reasonable to say he could be tiring a little, as he’s far surpassed his career high for innings in a season. A slightly tired Misiorowski still might be the best pitcher in the world, and he’s certainly an elite ace, but that would make him not some kind of must-play as the most-expensive pitcher on both sites in a tough matchup. He’s fantastic, and I would gladly play him in any lineup on any site, but I don’t think he’s the priority.

Tarik Skubal is the cheapest of these three aces, and he projects the best, so this is most likely your highest-owned pitcher. He got BABIP’d with a silly .526 BABIP in his last start against a low-strikeout lineup. You could say he allowed a plethora of hits, if you even know what a plethora is. But I could even spin that as a positive that he was able to work around 10 hits and still come out with only 2 runs allowed in 5.2 innings. He hasn’t looked like a can’t-miss DFS ace with the Dodgers, but he has remained a consistent real-life ace and has shown the ceiling enough to know it’s there. He also has the highest strikeout matchup of these three aces, and while the Reds have theoretical power in any matchup, the .116 ISO of Skubal against righties makes me less concerned. Unless the projected ownership gets wildly out of hand, I lean to Skubal as the SP1.

Cam Schlittler bounced back with a gem in his last start after he ran into some control issues over his previous 3 starts. He’s in the same boat as Misiorowski, where he’s at a career high in innings pitched, but I don’t see any signs that is an imminent problem. The Rockies are a pretty tough matchup for RHP, but Schlittler, like all these aces, is as close to matchup proof as it gets. But overall, the skills are so close, so why not just play the cheaper of the three aces in the better matchup. This leaves me calling Skubal the SP1, and then it is extremely toss-upy between Misiorowski and Schlittler as the first pivot.
