Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Wednesday 6/17

Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks today. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to muse about the June 17, 2026 MLB DFS slate.
Happy Wednesday! Many thanks to Cards for covering those bases for me the past couple days. I was celebrating some big life change with Mrs. Cheese and welcoming our first grandchild into the world. If I wasn’t old before (I was), I am now. But we are right back to the grind today with a split slate Wednesday that has a main slate starting a few minutes earlier than usual at 6:45 PM ET.
Because of the suspended game in Atlanta last night, FD is leaving that SF/ATL game off their slate, while it is included in the DK slate. This could lead to a tricky spot with getting lineups for that game, depending on how long it takes for them to finish the early game.
Before we get to that main slate, let’s take a quick peek at the early 5-game DK slate, which starts at 12:40 PM ET.
Wednesday Early Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings

This is a very dicey pitching slate, where I don’t feel even remotely confident in anything. The good news, as always, is that your opponents are playing with the same options as you are.
“TOP TIER” PITCHING
- Casey Mize at Astros – 26.5% K, 6.5% BB, 2.27 ERA, 3.52 SIERA
- Peter Lambert vs. Tigers – 22.3% K, 10.5% BB, 3.47 ERA, 4.38 SIERA
- Nolan McLean at Reds – 27.8% K, 9.8% BB, 4.01 ERA, 3.60 SIERA
- Sandy Alcantara at Phillies – 17.6% K, 5.7% BB, 4.25 ERA, 4.29 SIERA
Casey Mize has been the best pitcher on this slate this season, but it’s only 9 starts, and this will be his first game back off the IL. His one rehab start was only 55 pitches, and he’s had this start pushed back a couple days from his originally scheduled return due to a rainout. As much as I love the skills, it’s really tough to spend the highest salary on the board for a guy who could be extremely limited in this first start back. I think he’s ‘fine’ just because of how weak this pitching slate is, but this is in no way something that I’m going out of my way to spend up on.
Peter Lambert showed signs of some upside early on, but removing his first two big strikeout games back in April, we’re looking at a guy with a 19.5% K rate and an 11.1% walk rate. He has been horrifically wild against lefties and power-prone against righties. Do you want to play that for $9,400? I don’t.
What a strange little mystery we have with…
