Million Dollar Musings: MLB DFS Picks Today for Wednesday 6/4
Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Dave Potts (aka CheeseIsGood) has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks. Cheese, one of the preeminent baseball minds in all of fantasy sports and a winner of a $1,000,000 1st-place prize on both DraftKings and FanDuel, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate.
Happy Wednesday! We’ve got a 10-game main slate that looks to be heavily slanted to the hitting side. I can tell you already that I’m going to have a very narrowed-down pitcher pool, with a wide-open group of stacks and individual bats.
I’ve included every game in the analysis, but KC/STL looks very dicey with a straight Orange to open the day on the MLB weather page. We’ll also need to keep tabs on the TEX/TB game, though that one looks more likely to be OK at least for bats.
There is also an early 3-game slate at 12:10 p.m. ET, and if you’re playing that, we’ll have some expert tags and analysis in the MLB DFS optimizer to help get you started.

Wednesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
This is a pitching slate where almost everyone looks overpriced, at least on DK, and I’m ending up with a very small pool on both sites. I’m going to go with three tiers since we have such an obvious top two tonight:
TOP TIER PITCHING DUO
- Chris Sale vs. Diamondbacks – 30.1% K, 6.6% BB, 3.06 ERA, 2.96 SIERA
- Nick Pivetta at Giants – 28.9% K, 7.3% BB, 2.74 ERA, 3.24 SIERA
In a vacuum, I think Chris Sale is better than Nick Pivetta. It’s close, and both have upside in any matchup, but if everything else were even, I’d take Sale. Well, tonight, everything else is not even. Sale faces an Arizona team that is the lowest strikeout team in the league against lefties by a huge margin. He can still win this matchup, but it’s such a huge gap that he’s just the SP2 for me.
Pivetta has just 1 start all season with more than 3 runs allowed, and he’s at 7+ strikeouts in each of his last 3 starts. He doesn’t reach a pitch count ceiling as often as Sale, but it’s still in his range of outcomes to see a 100-pitch game. The matchup is basically middle of the road, but factoring in the good ballpark, which is perfectly suited to his fly ball pitching style, he’s my SP1 ahead of Sale tonight.
My initial glance at this slate had me thinking that Pivetta would be heavy chalk, but early projections, both raw points and pOWN%, have Sale on top. I’m still going to say I think that flips, but perhaps they will be more even, in which case I’ll be even heavier on Pivetta. The rest of the slate is bad enough that I will play Sale and Pivetta together in every lineup where the salary fits.
