MLB DFS Picks: Top Stacks for Friday, August 15th

Opto% Stack

Arizona Diamondbacks at Colorado Rockies (Tanner Gordon)

The Arizona Diamondbacks stand out as a top MLB DFS stack against Tanner Gordon, underscored by the best optimal stack rate and 2nd-best stack rating in projections. With an implied run total of 6.96 runs, Arizona in line for a great offensive showing.

Despite last night’s spread-out production, which exceeded expectations without being tournament-winning, the potential for another offensive surge remains high against a struggling pitcher like Gordon. Known for allowing consistent contact and a sky-high BABIP, Gordon offers a ripe opportunity for Arizona’s bats to capitalize.

However, with a larger slate of games and attractive, inexpensive pitching options, Arizona’s anticipated ownership could be substantial in small-field tournaments. This scenario invites caution, considering the possibility that even with a 10+ run prediction, other teams could steal competitive advantage through diversified scoring.

While Arizona promises high total runs, weighing slate-wide ownership dynamics and pivot potentials remains crucial—deliberating whether to ride their wave of success or seek less-popular targets with comparable upside.

Regardless, the Diamondbacks are popping in our tool.

Opto% Stack

New York Yankees at St. Louis Cardinals (Andre Pallante)

The New York Yankees are a strong stack option against Andre Pallante, highlighted by the 3rd-best optimal stack rate and stack rating, accompanied by an implied run total of 4.76 runs. Pallante’s recent struggles, characterized by a significant decline in his ground ball rate to 49% and a worrying 12.7% strikeout rate, have contributed to a bloated 7.67 ERA over his last 6 starts.

Although Pallante’s underlying numbers suggest bad luck in hit timing, the recurrence of allowing 5+ runs in four of his last 6 starts underscores vulnerability. The Yankees, equipped with potent fly-ball power hitters, are primed to exploit Pallante’s current form.

Aaron Judge becomes a priority if salary permits, given his exceptional power capabilities. However, the Yankees’ lineup depth allows for effective stacking with lefties like Jazz Chisholm, Ben Rice, Trent Grisham, and Cody Bellinger, since their bullpen is mostly righties.

Overall, the combination of Pallante’s downturn and the Yankees’ potential makes them an appealing option.
