MLB DFS Picks: Top Stacks for Friday, March 28th

Opto% Stack

Boston Red Sox vs. Mark Leiter

The Red Sox are exceptional stack today, ranking 5th in both optimal rate and stack rating in our projections, with a solid 4.5 implied run total. Jack Leiter’s early-season start for the Rangers creates a prime stacking opportunity given his documented struggles.

Despite his minor league strikeout potential, Leiter’s MLB performance has been concerning – a meager 17.9% K rate and an alarming 8.83 ERA across 35 innings last season. His persistent control issues are particularly exploitable, especially considering his fly-ball tendencies against a Boston lineup featuring significant power threats.

Left-handed batters should thrive against Leiter, who managed just a 15.1% K rate versus lefties. This makes Rafael Devers an elite play, while Jarren Duran offers tremendous upside. Value hunters should target Triston Casas and Wilyer Abreu, who provide affordable exposure to this favorable matchup.

The combination of Leiter’s control problems, vulnerability to lefties, and fly-ball profile against Boston’s power makes the Red Sox one of today’s most compelling stacks.

Value% Stack

Pittsburgh Pirates at Connor Gillispie

The Pirates rank 7th in optimal percentage and 2nd in Value% in our projections, indicating their affordability and upside in DFS formats. With an implied run total of 4.33, they are positioned to capitalize on Gillispie’s weaknesses.

Gillispie’s track record raises significant red flags. In Triple-A last season, his 5.16 xFIP and 1.75 HR/9 highlight his struggles with fly-ball control and susceptibility to home runs. His 10.1% walk rate further underscores control issues, which could lead to extended innings and scoring opportunities for Pittsburgh. While he performed well in spring training with a 0.75 ERA, his minor league stats suggest he is unlikely to maintain that success at the MLB level.

The Pirates’ lineup features potent hitters like Bryan Reynolds and Oneil Cruz. Complementing them are affordable bats like Nick Gonzales and Endy Rodriguez, providing excellent value for DFS lineups.
