MLB DFS Picks: Top Stacks for Friday, May 23rd

Opto% Stack

Yankees vs. Tanner Gordon

The Yankees are the top MLB DFS stack today, leading all teams in both optimal stack rate and stack rating according to our projections. With an implied run total of 7.95 runs, their offensive ceiling is unmatched on this slate. Tanner Gordon, who has struggled in both the minors and his limited major league experience, poses little threat to a lineup that leads the league in home runs and ISO. Gordon’s career numbers show significant power allowed to both righties and lefties, and he lacks strikeout ability, making the Yankees’ lineup even more attractive.

Despite high salaries, the Yankees may not be as heavily owned as expected, providing an opportunity to stack them in a variety of ways. Mixing and matching hitters from Austin Wells up to Cody Bellinger allows flexibility, and even leaving out stars like Aaron Judge can create unique combinations. With such a high run expectation and a favorable matchup against Gordon and a weak bullpen, the Yankees offer the highest upside and are a clear priority for DFS stacking today.

Value% Stack

Rangers at Sean Burke

The Rangers are an outstanding MLB DFS stack today, ranking second in both optimal stack rate and stack rating, while leading all teams in Value%. Their implied run total of 4.64 runs signals strong offensive expectations. Sean Burke’s profile is highly favorable for Texas bats—he has a strikeout rate under 16% to both sides of the plate, struggles with control against lefties, and lacks ground ball ability. This makes the Rangers’ power righties—Wyatt Langford, Josh Jung, Adolis Garcia, and Jake Burger—prime home run targets, while lefties and value bats round out full stacks.

Burke’s inability to miss bats or keep the ball on the ground, combined with the White Sox’s unreliable bullpen, creates a scenario ripe for offensive upside. The Rangers’ lineup construction allows for both value and power, making them an ideal choice for DFS players seeking both ceiling and salary relief. Given their top-tier projections and the favorable pitching matchup, the Rangers are one of the best stacking options on the slate today.
