wOBA: 0.304 (Rank: 17) — Strikeout Rate: 0.210 (Rank: 23) — wRC+: 88 (Rank: 23)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.81 (Rank: 13)
Analysis: There is rain in Texas and a whole lot of it. They should be able to get tonight’s game in, but as always, make sure to check out Kevin Roth’s daily weather report in the forums before setting your lineups. Wright takes the mound for the Red Sox tonight in a game that has one of the highest run totals on the board. Wright has struggled in his first few starts this season and the Rangers offense is trending upward. The risk is greater than the potential reward with Wright, which makes him an easy avoid tonight in Texas.
Pitcher Rating:55.9
Yovani Gallardo (FD: $7200, DK: $6300)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 56 — SIERA: 3.98 — K Rate: 16.5% — K/9: 6.35 — BB Rate: 6.6% — FB Rate: 28.5% — HR/FB: 13.2%

Boston Red Sox vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.310 (Rank: 14) — Strikeout Rate: 0.162 (Rank: 2) — wRC+: 94 (Rank: 13)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 4.00 (Rank: 2)
Analysis: Gallardo has been a serviceable starter for the Rangers this season, but his limited strikeout potential hurts his fantasy appeal. He has averaged 6.4 strikeout per nine innings, which is below the major league average. It sounds as if David Ortiz will get another night off for the Red Sox, but that doesn’t make a big enough impact to consider targeting Gallardo. He’s a below-average fantasy option tonight against the Red Sox in the hitter-friendly Globe Life Park.

Hanley Ramirez (FD: $3000, DK: $4700)
Position Eligibility: FD: OF — DK: OF/SS

2014 vs. RH Pitching: PA: 512 — wOBA: 0.355 — ISO: 0.156 — wRC+: 131
Analysis: Ramirez has been a bit of a disappointment this season, but as we mentioned with both Adrian Beltre and Andrew McCutchen, eventually he will see positive regression. He currently has a .244 BABIP, which is nearly 90 points lower than his career average. His BABIP will come up, it’s a matter of when, not a matter of if. I’ll take my chances on him in a favorable matchup tonight in a hitter-friendly ballpark. He’s only $3,000 on FanDuel and he’s shortstop eligible on DraftKings.

2014 vs. RH Pitching: PA: 178 — wOBA: 0.301 — ISO: 0.078 — wRC+: 86
Analysis: Fielder has been on a tear this month, batting .382 with 9 home runs and 28 RBIs. He now has a .460 wOBA and a .214 ISO against right-handed pitching. The Rangers have one of the highest team totals on the board tonight, which only adds to Fielder’s fantasy appeal. His price may limit his appeal in cash games, but he’s an excellent tournament option at first base.

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.78 (Rank: 17)
Analysis: If you took away the name and the odds from this game, you would want to target the starting pitcher from the Diamondbacks. This mystery man (we aren’t looking at his name, remember?) owns a 3.37 SIERA with a K/9 of 8.4. He has nearly four times as many strikeouts and walks and he is facing a Brewers’ offense that is ranked 26th in wOBA (.292) and 28th in strikeout rate (22.7%) against right-handed pitching this season. Who’s the mystery pitcher? It’s Rubby De La Rosa! Even though he’s a small underdog in a game that features a high run total, he’s one of my favorite tournament plays tonight.
Pitcher Rating:58.8
Jimmy Nelson (FD: $6900, DK: $6800)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 56 — SIERA: 4.10 — K Rate: 20.7% — K/9: 7.51 — BB Rate: 10.1% — FB Rate: 31.6% — HR/FB: 12.5%
2014: IP: 69 — SIERA: 3.76 — K Rate: 18.3% — K/9: 7.40 — BB Rate: 6.1% — FB Rate: 31.8% — HR/FB: 8.5%

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.65 (Rank: 29)
Analysis: Nelson has that boom or bust nature to his game. He’s always a risky cash game play, but he’s a decent tournament target tonight. He’s priced under $7,000, he has a decent strikeout rate, and he draws a mediocre matchup against the Diamonbacks at home. While I don’t hate the play, I will have very little exposure to Nelson tonight. I’d rather target the opposing pitcher, Rubby De La Rosa.

David Peralta (FD: $3000, DK: $3900)
Position Eligibility: FD: OF — DK: OF

2014 vs. RH Pitching: PA: 348 — wOBA: 0.369 — ISO: 0.194 — wRC+: 132
Analysis: Since the start of 2014, Jimmy Nelson has given up a .356 wOBA to left-handed hitters. Meanwhile, Peralta has posted a .363 wOBA and a .202 ISO against right-handed pitching during that same stretch. He’s a cheap outfield option that has decent upside and will likely have a low ownership level.

2014 vs. RH Pitching: PA: 318 — wOBA: 0.410 — ISO: 0.179 — wRC+: 164
Analysis: Platoon players are one of the best ways to find underpriced players in a given slate of games. Despite having a .374 wOBA and a .240 ISO against right-handed pitching this season, Lind is only $2,400 on FanDuel tonight. That’s a bargain that’s going to be hard to pass up. Not only is Lind playing in the hitter-friendly Miller Park, but Rubby De La Rosa has given up a .378 wOBA to left-handed hitters since the start of 2014.
Secondary Plays:

wOBA: 0.328 (Rank: 9) — Strikeout Rate: 0.188 (Rank: 12) — wRC+: 109 (Rank: 10)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.78 (Rank: 16)
Analysis: Buehrle gets outs the old fashioned way. He has one of the lowest strikeout rates in all of baseball at 11.3% this season. Without strikeouts, it takes a near perfect outing for a pitcher to pay off his salary. Nothing against Buehrle, but I’m not predicting a perfect outing from him tonight against the Twins. Minnesota has had some huge offensive outings against southpaws this season, including the more talented Chris Sale and David Price.
Pitcher Rating:33.2
Trevor May (FD: $6200, DK: $5800)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 43 — SIERA: 3.79 — K Rate: 19.1% — K/9: 7.42 — BB Rate: 4.2% — FB Rate: 38.9% — HR/FB: 5.4%

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.82 (Rank: 12)
Analysis: May has pitched pretty well this season with a 3.79 SIERA and a K/9 of 7.4. He should see plenty of run support with Mark Buehrle pitching opposite, but unfortunately, that’s not enough of a reason to target him tonight. He draws a very difficult matchup against the Blue Jays, who have one of the best offenses in all of baseball. This game has one of the highest run totals on the board tonight and both pitchers should be avoided.

NO ELITE PLAYS – Even though the Blue Jays are in a great spot as a whole, there aren’t any individual hitters that really stand out as must plays. A lot of bats are in play here, but they are expensive enough that you can fade the Blue Jays if necessary.

Analysis: Dozier is one of the top second baseman on the board tonight. He has always hit left-handed pitching well throughout his career, and this season is no exception. He owns a .367 wOBA with a .262 ISO against southpaws this season. He draws a favorable matchup against Mark Buehrle, who has given up a .337 wOBA to right-handed hitters since the start of 2014.

Analysis: Rodon is a talented, young pitcher with good strikeout potential. He hasn’t pitched very well in his first few starts though, and until he can string together a few quality outings, he can safely be avoided in all league formats. He draws a tough matchup against the Astros, who have quite a few bats in their lineup that feast on left-handed pitching (Springer, Altuve, and Gattis).

Lance McCullers (FD: $5400, DK: $5100)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 10 — SIERA: 3.36 — K Rate: 25.0% — K/9: 9.28 — BB Rate: 9.1% — FB Rate: 24.1% — HR/FB: 0.0%

Analysis: McCullers is another talented, young pitcher to take the mound tonight. He’s only pitched ten major league innings, but he has posted a 3.36 SIERA with a K/9 of 9.3. He has been tremendous in the minor leagues over the last two seasons, averaging over 12 strikeouts per nine innings. I love the upside that he provides at his price point and his matchup against the stagnant White Sox offense is appealing. He’s still too unproven to use in cash games, but fire him up as a tournament play tonight at home.

Analysis: Even though I like Lance McCullers as a tournament play tonight, that doesn’t mean that we have to avoid taking hitters against him. He’s still a young pitcher that is only making his third career major league start tonight. Abreu is coming off of a strong series against the Blue Jays and he goes from one hitter’s park to another in Minute Maid Park, which is a top-eight ballpark for run production and home runs.

Mike Bolsinger (FD: $6900, DK: $7200)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 25 — SIERA: 3.13 — K Rate: 23.9% — K/9: 7.82 — BB Rate: 6.5% — FB Rate: 28.3% — HR/FB: 5.9%
2014: IP: 52 — SIERA: 3.49 — K Rate: 20.2% — K/9: 8.25 — BB Rate: 7.1% — FB Rate: 26.2% — HR/FB: 15.9%
St. Louis Cardinals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.325 (Rank: 5) — Strikeout Rate: 0.187 (Rank: 7) — wRC+: 106 (Rank: 6)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.73 (Rank: 24)
Analysis: Bolsinger is coming off of a dominant start against the Padres at home. He only allowed one hit, while striking out eight batters in eight shutout innings of work. He has been very good this season with a 3.13 SIERA and a K/9 of 7.8. While I’m a believer, I’m not going to target him in a bad pitching matchup. The Cardinals are ranked 7th or better in wOBA, strikeout rate, and wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season.
Pitcher Rating:65.1
John Lackey (FD: $8300, DK: $7600)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 56 — SIERA: 4.29 — K Rate: 16.0% — K/9: 6.04 — BB Rate: 6.8% — FB Rate: 33.0% — HR/FB: 5.2%
2014: IP: 198 — SIERA: 3.64 — K Rate: 19.7% — K/9: 7.45 — BB Rate: 5.6% — FB Rate: 33.9% — HR/FB: 11.7%
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.358 (Rank: 1) — Strikeout Rate: 0.193 (Rank: 9) — wRC+: 130 (Rank: 1)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.90 (Rank: 5)
Analysis: Lackey’s numbers are trending in the wrong direction. His SIERA and walk rate are both up, while his strikeout rate has taken a big hit since last season. That doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence in him moving forward, especially if sites are going to continue to price him around $8,000. Lackey can safely be avoided tonight against the Dodgers, who are ranked 1st in wOBA (.358) and wRC+ (130) against right-handed pitching this season.
