Pitcher Grind Down
Corey Kluber : FD: $11,300 — DK: $11,700
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 392.2 — SIERA: 2.70 — ERA: 2.84 — K%: 27.9% — BB%: 5.3% — HR/9: 0.6
Last 30 Days: IP: 38.1 — SIERA: 3.66 — ERA: 2.82 — K%: 20.8% — BB%: 5.4% — HR/9: 0.5
LA Angels of Anaheim Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.312 (Rank: 15) — Strikeout Rate: 19.6% (Rank: 13)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.315 (Rank: 15) — Strikeout Rate: 19.3% (Rank: 13)
Pitchers per PA: 3.78 (Rank: 19)
Analysis: The final game of the evening should be a good one, as two aces square off against one another. Kluber has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the last two seasons, posting a 2.70 SIERA with a strikeout rate of 27.9%. He draws a mediocre matchup tonight against the Angels, who are ranked right around the major league average in both team wOBA and strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Kluber is a top-five pitching option tonight, I’m just not sure that he is going to be able to return value on that expensive price tag.
Pitcher Rating:83.9
Garrett Richards : FD: $8,400 — DK: $9,800
Pitching Stats:
2014 – 2015: IP: 291.1 — SIERA: 3.56 — ERA: 2.93 — K%: 21.5% — BB%: 7.8% — HR/9: 0.5
Last 30 Days: IP: 36.1 — SIERA: 4.00 — ERA: 2.97 — K%: 16.1% — BB%: 5.6% — HR/9: 1.0
Cleveland Indians Offense (2015)
vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.307 (Rank: 17) — Strikeout Rate: 18.6% (Rank: 6)
Last 14 Days: wOBA: 0.308 (Rank: 18) — Strikeout Rate: 21.3% (Rank: 18)
Pitchers per PA: 3.92 (Rank: 3)
Analysis: Richards has not been the same pitcher that he was in 2014, but he is still an above-average right-hander. He fairly difficult matchup tonight against the Indians, who have the sixth-lowest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Richards is a small favorite at home though, and he is considerably cheaper than Corey Kluber. Dollar for dollar, he is the better pitching option of the two starters in this game.
Pitcher Rating:67.7
