Danny Duffy (FD: $7400, DK: $6400)

Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 4.11 — K Rate: 17.6% — K/9: 6.98 — BB Rate: 6.9% — GB Rate: 41.5%
2014: SIERA: 4.31 — K Rate: 18.7% — K/9: 6.81 — BB Rate: 8.8% — GB Rate: 35.8%

Texas Rangers vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.321 (Rank: 10)
Strikeout Rate: 21.2% (Rank: 17)

Analysis: Duffy continues to do what Duffy does best. Post mediocre fantasy outing after mediocre fantasy outing (with the exception of his last start). Through his first six starts of the season, Duffy has posted a 4.11 SIERA with a K/9 of 7.0. He doesn’t walk a ton of batters, but he doesn’t strike out a ton either. He draws a fairly tough matchup against the Rangers, who are ranked tenth in wOBA (.321) against left-handed pitching this season. There’s not a lot to love or hate about Duffy tonight against Texas.

Pitcher Rating:52.0

Colby Lewis (FD: $6700, DK: $7200)

Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 4.09 — K Rate: 19.7% — K/9: 6.87 — BB Rate: 6.1% — GB Rate: 33.9%
2014: SIERA: 4.22 — K Rate: 17.5% — K/9: 7.03 — BB Rate: 6.3% — GB Rate: 33.0%

Kansas City Royals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.333 (Rank: 5)
Strikeout Rate: 16.4% (Rank: 4)

Analysis: Lewis often gets labeled as one of the worst starting pitchers in all of baseball. While it may not be too far from the truth, he’s not nearly as bad as most people think he is. On the season, he has a 4.09 SIERA with a K/9 of 6.8. His stats are actually slightly better than those of Shelby Miller (just saying). I’m certainly not recommending him tonight against the Royals though. There are two rules of thumb that I live by when it comes to pitchers. Stay away from Coors Field and stay away from the Royals.

2014 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.321 — ISO: 0.132 — OBP: 0.326

Analysis: Hosmer plays on a team that doesn’t get enough credit and he plays at a position that is full of superstars. That lethal combination leads to a very low ownership for Hosmer on a nightly basis. He has one of the top wOBA matchups on the board tonight though. He draws a favorable matchup against Colby Lewis, who has given up a .365 wOBA to left-handed hitters since the start of 2014. Meanwhile, Hosmer has posted a .463 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season.

Analysis: Did I tell you or did I tell you that Beltre’s production would start to come around? His BABIP was way too low for a player that hits the ball as hard as he does. Beltre has four multi-hit games in his last ten and he is still priced at a bargain-bin salary of $2,700 on FanDuel. Beltre is one of the best value plays on the board tonight against Danny Duffy in the hitter-friendly Globe Life Park.

Pitching Stats:
2015: SIERA: 3.64 — K Rate: 20.7% — K/9: 7.85 — BB Rate: 5.2% — GB Rate: 43.5%
2014: SIERA: 3.19 — K Rate: 25.5% — K/9: 9.24 — BB Rate: 7.6% — GB Rate: 45.4%

Chicago Cubs vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.308 (Rank: 18)
Strikeout Rate: 25.9% (Rank: 30)

Analysis: DeGrom won’t experience the full Wrigley Field effect, but he’ll get a good taste of it tonight. The wind is expected to blow out to right field at around 15 MPH, which is why the total for the game is set at 9.0 runs. Luckily for DeGrom, it’s not as hot as it can be in Chicago, but he’s still not a recommended play with the wind blowing out. There are very few times during the season when you want to target an underdog pitcher in a game that features a total this high.

Jon Lester (FD: $9100, DK: $9700)

Pitching Stats:

New York Mets vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.304 (Rank: 21)
Strikeout Rate: 20.6% (Rank: 14)

Analysis: After a shaky start in his first four outings, Lester has bounced back nicely in his last two. He has pitched a combined 14 innings, while only giving up a single earned run. While he is a small favorite tonight against the Mets, he is overpriced when you factor in tonight’s wind. When the wind blows out at Wrigley, the ball carries better than it does basically anywhere else. Lester can safely be avoided in all cash game lineups tonight against the Mets.

2014 vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.547 — ISO: 0.392 — OBP: 0.483

Analysis: Dollar for dollar, Cuddyer is one of my favorite plays at any position tonight. He has always hit left-handed pitching well throughout his career and he gets a huge boost with the wind blowing out to right-center tonight. Since the start of 2014, Cuddyer has posted a .487 wOBA with a .304 ISO against southpaws. Granted a lot of that production came in Coors Field last season, but it’s hard to pass on Cuddyer tonight at his price point.

Analysis: To the Rizzooooo, to the wall! That saying may get some run tonight with the wind blowing out to right in Wrigley Field. With this type of wind, one of Rizzo’s regular fly balls could make its way over the fence in right. Rizzo always has great power against right-handed pitching and this season is no exception. He currently owns a .413 wOBA and a .267 ISO against righties this season.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.319 (Rank: 10)
Strikeout Rate: 19.6% (Rank: 13)

Analysis: Stephen Strasburg was originally scheduled to start tonight’s game, but I can’t say that I’m disappointed that Scherzer will take the mound. I try to avoid biases against individual players in daily fantasy, but it’s near impossible not to have a bias against StrasTURD. Anyway, back to the breakdown. Scherzer has been dominant so far this season, posting a 2.62 SIERA with a ridiculous strikeout rate of 28.8%. The best stat may be that he has only walked 2.8% of the batters that he fas faced. While the Diamondbacks have a very capable offense, we can expect another strong outing from Scherzer tonight. The only question is whether or not he can pay off that expensive salary. I’m leaning toward other options, especially on single-pitcher sites.

Pitcher Rating:92.2

Washington Nationals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.311 (Rank: 15)
Strikeout Rate: 21.6% (Rank: 24)

Analysis: Collmenter pitched well at home last season, but that’s really all that he has working for him tonight. Through his first six starts in 2015, he has posted a 4.27 SIERA with a K/9 of 4.8. There is not enough strikeout potential here and given the fact that Max Scherzer is pitching opposite him, run support will likely be limited. He can safely be avoided in all league formats.

Analysis: Harper has been absolutely ridiculous in his last four games. During that stretch, he has racked up 8 hits (6 home runs), 13 RBIs, and 9 runs. That’s in a matter of four games people! That stretch has lifted his wOBA against right-handed pitching to .458 on the season. Harper is swinging a hot bat and he sees a ballpark boost tonight playing in the hitter-friendly Chase Field.

Oakland Athletics vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.330 (Rank: 6)
Strikeout Rate: 16.9% (Rank: 6)

Analysis: Before Porcello’s last start, I mentioned that I expected his numbers to regress in the near future. It was bad timing on my part, as he blanked the Rays with six strikeouts over seven innings of work. I’ll throw the caution flag out there again before tonight’s start though. Porcello’s strikeout rate is much higher than it was last season, despite producing a fairly low swinging-strike rate of 8.8%. His BABIP is also lower than it has been in every season that he has pitched in the majors. I’m not taking any chances on Porcello tonight against the A’s, who are ranked sixth in wOBA and strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season.

Boston Red Sox vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.298 (Rank: 23)
Strikeout Rate: 21.7% (Rank: 21)

Analysis: Kazmir is coming off of a rough outing against the Twins, giving up six earned runs in six innings of work. He’s one of those pitchers that tends to string together good or bad outings, which is concerning for his fantasy appeal tonight. He does draw a favorable matchup against the Red Sox, who can’t seem to buy a hit against southpaws this season. Boston is currently ranked 23rd in wOBA and 21st in strikeout rate against left-handed pitching. Kazmir has good strikeout potential and he’s a small favorite in this matchup, but my gut feeling is to avoid him tonight against the Red Sox.

Analysis: The “Laser Show” has really bounced back nicely this season, after an injury-plagued year that hurt his numbers in 2014. He currently has a .396 wOBA and a .318 ISO against southpaws. The best part with Pedroia is his cheap price tag. He is a bargain-bin special on both FanDuel ($2,900) and DraftKings ($3,800) tonight.

Analysis: Reddick is properly priced on FanDuel, but he seems $800 too cheap or so tonight on DraftKings. He has been hitting the cover off the ball recently, which has brought his wOBA against right-handed pitching up to .447 on the season. Analysis: Koehler hasn’t pitched well this season, posting a 4.56 SIERA with a K/9 of 6.3. He walks a few too many batters and doesn’t strike enough out, which is not a great combination in daily fantasy baseball. Koehler’s appeal is also hampered by the fact that he has to face a Dodgers’ offense that is currently ranked first in wOBA (.368) against right-handed pitching. He’s the largest underdog on the board for a reason.

Analysis: Scherzer comes close, but I have Greinke ranked as my number one overall pitching option tonight. It also helps that Greinke is considerably cheaper than Scherzer on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Greinke has pitched well this season with a 3.55 SIERA and a K/9 of 7.6. He will likely improve on both of those numbers as the season progresses and that may start tonight against the Marlins. Miami is ranked 22nd in wOBA and 25th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. In addition to the favorable matchup, Greinke is also pitching at home where he has been dominant over the last two seasons.

He’s one of the most productive player at any position, yet he often gets overlooked for players that appear to have more “upside.” For my money, I’ll take Gonzalez all day, every day at first base. He has a high floor and a high ceiling. He has been dominant against right-handed pitching this season, posting a .512 wOBA and a .374 ISO. He draws a favorable matchup tonight against Tom Koehler at home.
