Kyle Hendricks

Salaries: $6700 FD, $7100 DK

Washington Nationals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.318 (Rank: 9)
Strikeout Rate: 20.7% (Rank: 10)

Kyle Hendricks is turning into a very good middle-of-the-rotation piece for the Cubs, and he is a guy that is starting to become a viable DFS hurler in the right matchup. Unfortunately for him, this isn’t the right matchup against a viable Washington offense with some quality hitters. Hendricks is strictly a GPP option today. Rating = 5

Jordan Zimmermann

Salaries: $9200 FD, $8700 DK

Chicago Cubs vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.302 (Rank: 19)
Strikeout Rate: 26.2% (Rank: 1)

Speaking of GPP options, they don’t come much more interesting than Jordan Zimmermann today. He has allowed a total of three earned runs over his last four starts, and the matchup is enticing against a Cubs team that strikes out more than any other squad in the league. If Zimmermann can handle the big bats in the middle of the order, he could be one of the higher scoring pitchers today. Rating = 7.5

Chicago Cubs

Anthony Rizzo
2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.427 — ISO: .297 — OBP: 0.415

Rizzo could be the single hottest hitter in the major leagues right now. He cracked two home runs against the Nationals on Friday and followed it up with a nice game yesterday. He is often under-appreciated and overlooked at first base, and he is the only Cubs bat I would look at against Jordan Zimmermann today.

Washington

Bryce Harper
2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.509 — ISO: .446 — OBP: 0.463

Though he has cooled a bit of late, there is no reason to fret with Bryce Harper. He is having one of the best seasons against RHP that we have seen in several years, with a wOBA north of .500 and an ISO rating of .446. Harper hit a home run in the 9th inning yesterday, and this could be the start of another torrid stretch for the Washington superstar.

Seattle Mariners vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.293 (Rank: 26)
Strikeout Rate: 23.5% (Rank: 3)

If the voting for the AL Cy Young was done right now, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Archer come in the top three or four. He has been magnificent to start the year, sporting a whopping 11.49 K/9 along with a 2.01 ERA. Outside of one hiccup against the Rangers, he has really improved his control, too. He is coming off a dominating performance against the Angels and draws a Mariners team that doesn’t hit righties well and strikes out as much as anyone in the league. Archer is my favorite play in all formats today. Rating = 9.5

Mike Montgomery

Salaries: $6200 FD, $4600 DK

Tampa Bay Rays vs. LH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.324 (Rank: 9)
Strikeout Rate: 22.8% (Rank: 8)

Montgomery was solid in his major league debut on Tuesday against the Yankees, and he will get another start here today. The Rays’ bats have been quiet in this series with just four runs scored in three games, but they hit much better against left-handed pitchers. In addition, the win is going to be a little more difficult to come by with Archer on the bump against him. Rating = 4.5

Batter Grind Down

Tampa Bay

Evan Longoria
2015 vs. LH Pitching: wOBA: 0.387 — ISO: .143 — OBP: 0.433

While he does not hit for the power that he once did, Longoria is still a very serviceable bat against left-handed pitching. His wOBA and OBP are both well above league average against southpaws, and he should be ready to go after a day off against Felix Hernandez last night. Fire him up as one of the better options at third base today.

Editor’s Note: Longoria is dealing with a slight injury, and may sit out. Check the starting lineups before locking him into your roster.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.320 (Rank: 7)
Strikeout Rate: 19.6% (Rank: 18)

Prior to his last start, there was much discussion about deGrom’s home/road splits. He has always been a guy who throws much better at home, and then he went out and dominated the Padres in their home ballpark. He is quietly becoming a bona fide ace no matter where he pitches. That will be put to the test today in hitter-friendly Chase Field. I would rather pay up for Archer or Cueto today, but that doesn’t mean deGrom doesn’t have any upside. He’s a risk/reward pick here. Rating = 8.5

New York Mets vs. RH Pitching: (2015)

The watered-down Mets lineup may make you think about taking Josh Collmenter today. Once you think about it, you will realize that you don’t want any real life dollars riding on Josh Collmenter’s right arm. Rating = 2

Ruben Tejada
2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.363 — ISO: .113 — OBP: 0.400

If you are looking for a value play on this Sunday, Ruben Tejada will undoubtedly be one of the most popular options. He is locked into a top spot in the Mets lineup, and his price still hasn’t come up on most sites. With an OBP of .400 against righties this year, Tejada is a great way to save some salary against a bad pitcher in Josh Collmenter.

Miami

Giancarlo Stanton
2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.346 — ISO: .263 — OBP: 0.320

Giancarlo Stanton will likely be the most popular bat on the board today, as he has been over the last few days. It’s hard to pass on his power potential at Coors Field, especially against a pitcher like Kyle Kendrick. His power has been there against RHP all year, though his OBP and wOBA are surprisingly low. The Coors factor and the Kyle Kendrick factor transcend those stats today. Stanton is a great play, and you probably better find a way to fit him in your cash games.

Justin Bour
2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.434 — ISO: .261 — OBP: 0.400

It appears as though the Marlins are committed to using Bour as their cleanup man against right-handers, and he is showing that he deserves that spot. In fact, his wOBA against righties is almost .100 points higher than Stanton’s. His .400 OBP is also elite, and his price remains in the mid-tier on most sites. In addition to Stanton, Bour is a great option for the Marlins today.

Colorado

Troy Tulowitzki
2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.316 — ISO: .194 — OBP: 0.298

If you hid the name from these numbers, this would be a player everyone would avoid. I am listing Tulowitzki as an elite play because he is at home and facing a pitcher that is very bad, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit worried here. His track record makes him worthy of a play in this spot, and we can at least take comfort that he will be in the lineup as he got a day off yesterday.

DJ LeMahieu
2015 vs. RH Pitching: wOBA: 0.378 — ISO: .129 — OBP: 0.393

LeMahieu tends to bounce around in the lineup, but he has been hitting 2nd more often that not in recent games. His wOBA is well above league average against right-handed pitching, and he gets a major boost if he remains in the #2 spot today. In any case, he is a great target against Urena.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. RH Pitching: (2015)

The Sunday night contest should be a fun pitching matchup between Lance Lynn and Zack Greinke. Don’t get sucked into Lynn for daily fantasy purposes today, however. His home/road splits throughout his career have always been very distinct, and he performs quite a bit worse on the road. The Dodgers are also the best team in the league against right-handers. There are better options at Lynn’s price point today, though I wouldn’t argue against you if you decided to use him as a contrarian pick in tournaments. Rating = 6

Zack Greinke

Salaries: $9900 FD, $9800 DK

St. Louis Cardinals vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.320 (Rank: 7)
Strikeout Rate: 18.7% (Rank: 23)

Mr. Greinke sure has a tough act to follow after Clayton Kershaw’s one-hit masterpiece on Saturday night. The Cardinals may also be without Matt Carpenter in this one, as Carpenter exited last night’s contest after being hit by a pitch on his elbow. With Matt Adams already on the shelf, that severely weakens the Cardinals’ offense against right-handers. It is always difficult to target pitchers against the league-leading Redbirds, but this is a decent spot for Greinke. His consistency makes him a nice cash game target. Rating = 8
