Jeff Samardzija (FD: $8900, DK: $8700)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 61 — SIERA: 3.87 — K Rate: 18.9% — K/9: 7.23 — BB Rate: 4.6% — FB Rate: 37.4% — HR/FB: 9.9%

wOBA: 0.319 (Rank: 12) — Strikeout Rate: 0.209 (Rank: 23) — wRC+: 100 (Rank: 11)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.82 (Rank: 13)
Analysis: Samardzija has had a subpar season by his standards and it doesn’t appear that it’s going to get any better today. He draws one of the worst pitching matchups in all of baseball. The Blue Jays are one of the best offenses in the majors and this game will take place in the hitter-friendly Rogers Centre. Samardzija can be avoided in all league formats.
Pitcher Rating:65.3
Marco Estrada (FD: $6700, DK: $5500)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 32 — SIERA: 3.94 — K Rate: 22.6% — K/9: 8.63 — BB Rate: 10.2% — FB Rate: 42.2% — HR/FB: 15.8%

Chicago White Sox vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.299 (Rank: 22) — Strikeout Rate: 0.202 (Rank: 16) — wRC+: 86 (Rank: 23)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.68 (Rank: 27)
Analysis: Estrada has pitched well this season with a 3.94 SIERA and a K/9 of 8.6. He’s not getting any love from the oddsmakers though, as this game has one of the highest run totals on the board. He may be worth a look in tournaments at his cheap price point, but he can safely be avoided in cash games. The ballpark alone is enough to fade Estrada.

Analysis: Abreu homered and drove in four runs last night in the Rogers Centre and he’ll look to add another solid outing to his resume today. He has a .370 wOBA and a .203 ISO against right-handed pitching this season. He sees a major ballpark boost in the Rogers Centre and he draws a favorable matchup against Marco Estrada, who has given up a .337 wOBA to right-handed hitters.

Analysis: Bautista made a splash in his return to the lineup with three doubles and five RBIs last night. He deserves a look again today, as he draws a decent matchup against Jeff Samardzija in the hitter-friendly Rogers Centre. Bautista has always had good power against right-handed pitching and he’s price under $5,000 on both FanDuel and DraftKings.

Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 61 — SIERA: 2.62 — K Rate: 26.5% — K/9: 9.19 — BB Rate: 5.9% — FB Rate: 23.1% — HR/FB: 19.4%

Tampa Bay Rays vs. RH Pitching: (2015)
wOBA: 0.298 (Rank: 23) — Strikeout Rate: 0.208 (Rank: 20) — wRC+: 94 (Rank: 15)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.89 (Rank: 6)
Analysis: Hernandez has been the ace that we all expect him to be. He has a 2.62 SIERA on the season with a K/9 of 9.2. He doesn’t walk many batters and he produces a high ground-ball rate. He has given up a 19.4% HR/FB rate this season, but that rate is unsustainable. Look for that to come back to the league average of around 10% as the season progresses. He draws a favorable matchup against the Rays, who are ranked 23rd in wOBA and 20th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. The only concern here is run support. The Rays also have their ace on the mound today.
Pitcher Rating:93.5
Chris Archer (FD: $9300, DK: $9200)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 60 — SIERA: 2.88 — K Rate: 29.1% — K/9: 10.50 — BB Rate: 8.3% — FB Rate: 25.7% — HR/FB: 10.5%

wOBA: 0.300 (Rank: 20) — Strikeout Rate: 0.215 (Rank: 24) — wRC+: 93 (Rank: 16)
Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.86 (Rank: 8)
Analysis: Archer has pitched well this season with a 2.88 SIERA and a K/9 of 10.5. His one weakness is that he walks a few too many batters. He’s one of those pitchers that always seems to find trouble when he starts to lose his command. He’s worth a look as a tournament play today though. He’s pitching at home against the Mariners, who are ranked 20th in wOBA and 24th in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season.

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.82 (Rank: 12)
Analysis: O’Sullivan is an easy pitcher to avoid in the early slate of games. He has a mediocre SIERA of 4.40 with a low K/9 of 5.1. He may not walk a ton of batters, but that doesn’t help when he’s giving up hits. Even in a favorable matchup against the Mets, O’Sullivan should be avoided in all league formats.
Pitcher Rating:39.6
Noah Syndergaard (FD: $7700, DK: $7600)
Pitching Stats:
2015: IP: 17 — SIERA: 3.80 — K Rate: 21.6% — K/9: 8.31 — BB Rate: 6.8% — FB Rate: 43.1% — HR/FB: 4.5%

Pitches per Plate Appearance: 3.67 (Rank: 28)
Analysis: Syndergaard may be the best pitching value on the board today. He has looked good in his first three starts, posting a 3.80 SIERA with a K/9 of 8.3. He should be able to dominate a Phillies’ offense that is ranked dead last in wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Syndergaard is a sizable favorite and he’s pitching at home in one of the best pitcher’s parks in baseball. He may not be the safest cash game play on single pitcher sites, but he’s an excellent SP2 on multi-pitcher sites.

He got off to a very slow start in the month of April, but he’s turned it around this month. In May, he has a .337 batting average with a .349 wOBA. Analysis: Vogelsong does not pitch well away from AT&T Park and even there, he’s not a great fantasy option. He owns a 4.73 SIERA this season with an average K/9 of 6.6. He walks too many batters and he has to face a surging Brewers’ offense in the hitter-friendly Miller Park. Vogelsong can safely be avoided in all league formats.

Analysis: Fiers has pitched well this season with a 3.30 SIERA and a K/9 of 11.0. He has been inconsistent this season, but you have to love the upside that he provides at his price point. He’s an easy pitcher to avoid in cash games though, as the Giants are ranked 6th or better in wOBA, strikeout rate, and wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season.

Analysis: Alfredo Simon was scratched from his start today, so the Tigers will turn to relief pitcher Alex Wilson. Even if he wasn’t on a pitch count (which he will be), he would not be a recommended fantasy option against the A’s. Oakland is ranked 4th or better in wOBA, strikeout rate, and wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season.

Analysis: After a terrific start to the season, Kazmir has come back down to Earth. He now owns a 3.85 SIERA with a K/9 of 8.6. Those numbers are nothing to scoff at, but it’s hard to justify paying that hefty price tag when he’s facing a very competent Tigers’ offense. Detroit is ranked 2nd in both wOBA and wRC+ against left-handed pitching this season. There are better options in both cash games and tournaments.

Analysis: Catcher is a very thin position, especially if you are playing in the “afternoon only” leagues. Vogt is the chalk play at the position and for good reason. His price is affordable, he has a .440 wOBA against right-handed pitching, and he draws a favorable matchup against Alex Wilson, who is making a spot start for the Tigers today.
