Main Slate

Arms To Trust:

Chris Sale vs Toronto Blue Jays

With only four games on the Main Slate tonight, we have to start with the one clear ace on the schedule – Chris Sale, taking on the Toronto Blue Jays in Toronto. Sale has picked up almost exactly where left off last season, with almost identical K/9 (12.72 this season, 12.93 last season), BB/9 (1.86 vs 1.81), K% (36.3% vs 36.2%), WHIP (0.97 both seasons), and SIERA (2.34 vs 2.58). Tonight he is taking on a Blue Jays team that has done well offensively, ranking 5th in the league in runs scored per game, but has had trouble with left-handed pitching this year, ranking 20th in the league in wOBA against southpaws. As you would expect, Toronto has the lowest projected run total on the board, and Sale and the Red Sox are strong favorites to win the game. As you would also expect, Sale is the priciest pitcher on the board at $11,400 on FanDuel, $13,000 on DraftKings, and $25,000 on FantasyDraft. There is no question that Sale is the top choice on the slate going in, and it will be difficult to put together a cash team without him at the SP1 spot. For tournaments, you just have to consider your other options, figure out the bats you want to fit in your lineup, and then decide on your appetite for risk.
