Arms To Trust

Max Scherzer vs. Miami Marlins

If you have stuck with me this long, you pretty much know what I am going to say about Max here. For those that might be first-timers though, Max is good at the throwing of the baseballs from the mound thingy.

His 34.6% K% is second in the entire league amongst qualified pitchers behind only the 35.1% of Gerrit Cole. He adds to it above average control (6.1% BB%) and a great ability to limit hard contact (29.4% Hard%). He. Is. Good.

And this is purely speculation on my part, but I have to assume the Nats are going to let him throw until his arm falls off with him in contention for the NL Cy Young award. He still has this start and most likely Sunday’s finale to try to catch Jacob deGrom in that race. That type of “safety” (again, I am just speculating) can’t be overstated at this time of year when paying this much in salary.
