Arm To Trust
Sean Newcomb vs. Tampa Bay Rays
This is one of those slates where ‘trustworthy’ means “in comparison to the other options”, because we don’t really have anyone on this nine-game slate that is trustworthy in the true sense of the word. I guess Newcomb is as close as we have against the Rays.
The Rays come into the National League to face the Braves, but the loss of the DH for them doesn’t mean as much with the way they use their pitchers. For instance, they only had one pitcher at-bat in yesterday’s game. Sure, the quality of hitter theoretically diminishes each time a new pinch hitter comes up since it is probably a bench guy, but the point remains that the negative league shift isn’t as meaningful here for the Rays.
