Gerrit Cole UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (+153, Novig)
Cole has completed 6+ innings in 7 of his last 8 turns through the Yankees rotation, but Aaron Boone has been increasingly mindful of his start-to-start workload. Cole hasn’t thrown more than 93 pitches in any of his last 3 starts, and the bullpen has been up in the 6th inning in several of those outings. At plus money, this is a worthwhile risk, especially with a rested arm barn behind Cole on Thursday.
Spencer Arrighetti OVER 3.5 Hits Allowed (-135, bet365)
BET365Arrighetti hasn’t been stretched out past 15 batters faced since his most recent injury, but this is a spot where Toronto could try to push him into the 4th inning. Arrighetti threw 61 pitches in his return to the big leagues on August 21, which should allow him to flirt with 80 pitches this evening. The Blue Jays have heavily taxed their bullpen in recent days, which could afford Arrighetti a slightly longer leash on Thursday.
Chris Sale UNDER 18.5 Outs Recorded (-180, bet365)
BET365Sale has done a good job keeping runs off of the board in recent weeks, but he’s been terribly inefficient in doing so. During the last 30 days, he’s averaging 4.38 pitches per batter faced; the league average hovers around 3.87.
The Dodgers offense hasn’t been great since losing Andy Pages to injury, but this is still a lineup that tends to work deep counts and make opposing pitchers work for their outs. There is value on the under at this price.
