Major League Baseball has 6 games on tap this evening, which includes some top-tier arms on the bump. Cy Young candidates Cristopher Sanchez and Cam Schlittler are scheduled to toe the rubber. Matthew Boyd is slated to make his long-awaited return to the Cubs rotation too.
As always, it’s important to keep an eye on the MLB weather report before committing to any wagers. The forecast appears to be on the hitter-friendly side in Washington, New York, and Boston, which could lead to some fun offensive production across the east coast.
Below, you can find three of my favorite picks for Thursday, June 25th!
Best MLB Player Props for Thursday, June 25th
Here are my top player prop bets, with the first pitch this evening scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Thursday, June 25th:
- Matthew Boyd Over/Under 14.5 Outs Recorded
- Freddy Peralta Over/Under 15.5 Outs Recorded
- Cam Schlittler Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
Matthew Boyd OVER 14.5 Outs Recorded (-151, DraftKings)
Boyd threw 80 pitches and faced 23 batters on June 6th and then had a lighter final appearance in High-A after experiencing some shoulder fatigue in his previous outing. Still, he threw 59 pitches and faced 14 batters. A reasonable projection for Boyd tonight is north of 20 batters faced and around 80 pitches. The Mets have seen southpaws well of late, but the Cubs would love some length from Boyd, if at all possible. The Cubs have Vince Velasquez available in long relief, if necessary, but he’s more likely to see the field in a blowout than he is in a competitive game script.
Freddy Peralta OVER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-121, DraftKings)
Peralta has struggled at times this season, including a 10-run blow-up against the Phillies in his most recent outing on June 20th. That said, the Mets’ arm barn has been heavily used in recent days. On Tuesday, they burned both of their primary long relievers, with Tobias Myers throwing 45 pitches and Cionel Perez throwing 29 pitches. Yesterday, they used 6 arms out of the ‘pen, with 4 of them throwing at least 19 pitches.
Peralta isn’t a 5-and-dive guy. The Mets are likely hoping for at least an out or two in the 6th inning. The Cubs are a tough opponent, but Peralta is someone that should routinely be expected to work deeper into games. This is a nice buy-low spot.
Cam Schlittler OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-153, DraftKings)
Schlittler has been the most dominant pitcher in the American League this season. Tonight, he will face a Boston lineup that is traveling out of the Colorado altitude without the benefit of an off-day. The Yankees’ arm barn isn’t in great shape either, having used David Bednar and Fernando Cruz each of the last two days. Schlittler should have every opportunity to get through 6 innings.
