Best MLB Player Props for Thursday, May 14th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 12:35 PM ET on Thursday, May 14th:
- Luis Castillo Over/Under 15.5 Outs Recorded
- Spencer Horwitz Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
- Sal Stewart Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Luis Castillo OVER 15.5 Outs Recorded (+100, Novig)
Castillo owns a dreadful 6.57 ERA, 5.74 xERA, and 1.62 WHIP through his first 8 starts in 2026. That said, it would be difficult for him to be this bad for an entire season. The good news for him is that he should see a righty-heavy Houston lineup on Thursday. Castillo has a 3.75 FIP against righties this year, compared to a 5.17 FIP against lefties.
It’s also important to note that Seattle’s arm barn is in rough shape after yesterday. The Mariners have used Andres Munoz, Eduard Bazardo, Cooper Criswell, Nick Davila, and Alex Hoppe twice each in the last 3 days. Seattle is likely to ask Castillo for as much length as possible this afternoon.
Spencer Horwitz OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+108, DraftKings)
Chase Dollander enters play on Thursday with a 2.83 FIP and 0.82 WHIP against righties but a 5.30 FIP and 1.73 WHIP against lefties. Dollander’s arsenal against lefties is overwhelmingly 4-seamers and sinkers – neither of which generates much swing and miss. The consequence of that is fewer strikeouts and longer at-bats. Horwitz has a good approach at the plate and should be able to put together some quality plate appearances this afternoon.
Sal Stewart OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-145, Caesars)
Stewart has demolished fastballs this season but struggled against pretty much everything else. The good news for him on Thursday is that he’s going to face Foster Griffin, who throws a lot of fastballs to righties. Griffin has a 4.05 FIP and has allowed plenty of quality contact across the platoon early in 2026. This is a good matchup for Stewart.
