Happy Tuesday! Today’s MLB schedule features 14 evening contests following the postponement of the Braves and Mets due to inclement weather. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET, with the rest of the action spread throughout the night.
As always, it’s important to keep an eye on the MLB weather report before committing to any wagers. Cooler temperatures could once again be a limiting factor for hitters in San Francisco, but Sacramento’s forecast looks like a pitcher’s nightmare, with 90-degree weather and winds blowing out toward center field around first pitch.

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Tuesday, July 28th:
- Bubba Chandler Over/Under 3.5 Strikeouts
- Anthony Kay Over/Under 4.5 Strikeouts
- Seth Lugo Over/Under 3.5 Strikeouts
Bubba Chandler OVER 3.5 Strikeouts (-170, FanDuel)
FANDUELChandler has been limited to 21 batters faced in each of his last 3 turns through the Pittsburgh rotation, but that should still provide plenty of opportunity for him to get to 4 strikeouts this evening. Chandler has seen his swinging-strike rate dip slightly in recent starts, but that is likely to bounce back sooner rather than later, especially considering he hasn’t seen any significant changes in velocity or spin rate. The over likely has some value.
Anthony Kay UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (+110, BetMGM)
BETMGMIn his last 5 turns through the Chicago rotation, Kay owns a 5.10 xERA, 5.38 FIP, and 1.32 WHIP. He has struck out only 17.3% of batters he has faced in that span. Kay isn’t working ahead in counts particularly often, nor is he missing many bats.
The Yankees have guys in their lineup who are prone to striking out, but this is still a tall number for a pitcher who simply isn’t known for generating many punchouts.
Seth Lugo OVER 3.5 Strikeouts (-150, BetMGM)
BETMGMLugo isn’t a guy who is going to blow many hitters away, but his kitchen-sink approach is usually good for at least a few strikeouts each time he toes the rubber. In 5 starts during July, he’s recorded 4+ strikeouts in each outing and never fewer than 3 strikeouts. Kansas City has a fresh arm barn heading into Tuesday, which could lead to a tighter leash for Lugo in this spot, but there are enough strikeout targets in Minnesota’s lineup to make this a play worth firing on.
