There are 14 MLB games on tap for Tuesday, with the first pitch of the day scheduled for 6:35 PM ET in Baltimore.

Bettors will be treated to some good MLB weather across the league, with warm temperatures and favorable winds in a few places on the East Coast. In Chicago, however, cold temperatures and wind blowing in from left field could limit the offense we see in that game. There are some potential rain issues as well, most notably in Los Angeles, where Shohei Ohtani is scheduled to make his first start of the season. As always, make sure to keep an eye on forecasts before locking in any wagers.

Best MLB Player Props for Tuesday, March 31st

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM ET on Tuesday, March 31st:

Max Scherzer OVER 4.5 Hits Allowed (+115, bet365)

Scherzer is going to be asked for some length in this start. Toronto’s bullpen was already taxed coming out of the weekend, then Cody Ponce exited early yesterday due to injury – necessitating the bullpen to cover another 6.2 innings (4.2 if excluding the innings pitched by a position player).

Scherzer is a future Hall-of-Famer, but he’s now 41 years old and coming off of a season in which he had a 4.62 ERA, 4.99 FIP, and 1.29 WHIP in 85 innings. He still throws strikes, which means the main way he puts guys on base is via hits allowed. Colorado’s offense is capable enough to make this a worthwhile risk at the current price.

Tanner Bibee OVER 4.5 Hits Allowed (-107, DraftKings)

Bibee exited his first start of the season last Thursday against the Mariners with right shoulder inflammation. The team has cleared him to start, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him operating at less than 100% health.

Even if Bibee isn’t impacted by any lingering shoulder issues, this is simply the worst matchup in baseball for a starting pitcher. Making matters more challenging, Cleveland will almost certainly be without their closer, Cade Smith. Shawn Armstrong and Erik Sabrowski would be making their third appearance in four days if used tonight.

This could be a spot where Cleveland asks Bibee for some length, for better or worse. If he’s effective, 5 hits allowed in 6 innings against the Dodgers is possible. If he’s not effective, then he could obviously allow 5 hits in that scenario too.

Kyle Tucker OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-110, BetMGM)

Kyle Tucker has been King Tucker for us to begin the season – cashing all three of our hitter prop recommendations on him. He’s likely to be in the 2-hole again tonight against Bibee, who is coming off of a start in which he exited early due to shoulder inflammation.

Behind Bibee, Cleveland’s arm barn isn’t in great shape after heavily using their high-leverage battery of Smith, Armstrong, and Sabrowski to open the season. That could mean late-inning at-bats against Matt Festa or Connor Brogdon – very hittable arms.

This is once again tremendous value for a talented hitter who is slotted directly behind Shohei Ohtani and in front of Mookie Betts in the Dodgers lineup.
