Wednesday represents the first getaway day of the season in Major League Baseball! There are 15 games on the schedule, with 13 of them slated for a 4:10 PM ET first pitch or earlier.
The MLB weather report is all over the place today, with warm temperatures in many areas on the East Coast but some frigid temperatures in places like Chicago and Seattle. As always, be sure to keep an eye on temperature and wind before locking in any wagers.
Below, you can find three of my favorite picks for Wednesday, April 1st!
Best MLB Player Props for Wednesday, April 1st
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 12:15 PM ET on Wednesday, April 1st:
- Drew Rasmussen Over/Under 14.5 Outs Recorded
- Matthew Boyd Over/Under 15.5 Outs Recorded
- Kyle Tucker Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Drew Rasmussen OVER 14.5 Outs Recorded (-225, BetMGM)
Rasmussen completed 5 innings last Thursday, despite his defense making a couple of errors behind him. He threw 73 pitches and averaged an efficient 3.65 pitches per batter faced. Last season, he was right in line with the league average in efficiency, averaging 3.90 pitches per batter faced.
Milwaukee has a patient offense that sees a lot of pitches, but there is no scenario in which Tampa Bay pulls Rasmussen before the 6th inning today unless he gets shellacked. Assuming he’s reasonably effective, he should absolutely be able to get through the 5th inning.
Matthew Boyd OVER 15.5 Outs Recorded (+120, bet365)
The forecast in Chicago is brutal for hitters – 38 degrees with 20-mph winds blowing in from center field at first pitch. Boyd was touched up for 6 earned runs in his first start of the season, but he averaged an efficient 3.71 pitches per batter faced. Last season, Boyd was right around the league average with 3.83 pitches per batter faced.
The Angels are a patient offense that tends to work deep counts, but this is simply not a good spot for offense. Boyd should be able to pitch to contact where appropriate to help keep his pitch count reasonable.
Kyle Tucker OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+100, BetMGM)
Tucker had a hit in the 1st inning last night but ultimately came up short for us. Still, he had quality at-bats and nearly had a 5th opportunity at the plate in the 8th inning before Shohei Ohtani struck out.
Tucker is in an advantageous spot every single night, with Ohtani hitting leadoff and Mookie Betts directly behind him in the Dodgers lineup. Over time, this will yield him plenty of chances to drive in runs and score runs himself. This is tremendous value at even money.
