Wednesday’s MLB slate features 14 games (as well as the resumption of yesterday’s SF/ATL game that got suspended). The action will get underway at 12:40 PM ET in Cincinnati as the Reds host the Mets, with games spread throughout the day.
As always, it’s important to keep an eye on the MLB weather report before committing to any wagers. The temperature is forecast to be above 80 degrees for every afternoon game, except in Los Angeles. We could see some offense early today!
Below, you can find three of my favorite picks for Wednesday, June 17th.
Best MLB Player Props for Wednesday, June 17th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 12:40 PM ET on Wednesday, June 17th:
- Shohei Ohtani Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
- Shane McClanahan Over/Under 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed
- Brandon Sproat Over/Under 15.5 Outs Recorded
Shohei Ohtani OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-130, DraftKings)
Tampa Bay is one of the league’s more patient offenses, but this is still great value for Ohtani, who has completed 6 innings in 10 of his first 11 starts in the 2026 season. Manager Dave Roberts has been vocal this season about wanting his starting pitchers to get length whenever possible, and he’s likely to get what he can from Ohtani today, considering that Tanner Scott, Will Klein, and Kyle Hurt have each been used in consecutive days to open the week.
Shane McClanahan UNDER 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-150, Caesars)
McClanahan has been touched up for 4 runs in each of his last 2 starts, but the underlying metrics haven’t been that bad of late. He’s still missing bats and generating a fair amount of weak contact, which should mean some positive regression in the near future.
This afternoon, he gets to face a Dodgers lineup that has struggled mightily against southpaws of late. Entering play, the Dodgers rank 19th in wRC+ against LHP during the last 30 days, including 28th in wRC+ against LHP during the last 2 weeks.
McClanahan has been mostly a 5-and-dive option for Tampa Bay this season. If that holds true once again today, his opportunities to allow runs will likely be limited to the first two times through the order plus maybe a few more batters. There is good value on the under.
Brandon Sproat UNDER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-149, DraftKings)
Sproat held the Athletics to 1 run across 6 innings in his most recent outing, but he still faced only 21 batters. Milwaukee has been thrilled to get 5 innings from Sproat most days this season – he’s recorded an out in the 6th inning in only 4 of 13 appearances. Cleveland doesn’t have a strong offense, but they are likely to stack lefties against Sproat. That could increase the incentive for Milwaukee to dip into their arm barn when the lineup flips over for a third time. Sproat would likely need to be nearly perfect to get into the 6th inning.
