Happy Friday! All 30 MLB teams are scheduled to be in action to begin the weekend, with today’s 15-game slate beginning at 6:40 PM ET in Pittsburgh, as the Mets take on the Pirates.

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Friday, June 27th!

Best MLB Player Props for Friday, June 27th

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on Friday, June 27th:

Sonny Gray OVER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-140, DraftKings)

Gray was pulled from his most recent outing after only 79 pitches, but he likely had more in the tank, considering that he had allowed only 1 earned run on 5 hits to that point. Gray has been brought up in trade rumors in recent weeks, which has fueled speculation that St. Louis could be carefully watching his workload between now and July 31st. His most recent outing could also have simply been a de-load outing, given that we haven’t heard any reports of injury since last weekend. Tonight, he gets a reasonably favorable matchup against the Guardians, and he should be fresh after not throwing more than 79 pitches in either of his last 2 starts. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him get deep into this game, if he’s allowed to throw 90+ pitches. Entering play, he’s completed at least 6 innings in 5 consecutive starts in which he’s thrown 89+ pitches.

Logan Gilbert OVER 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-165, DraftKings)

Since returning from the injured list, Gilbert’s spin rates have been down on most of his offerings. Thus, even though he has 16 strikeouts in 10 innings since being activated, there are some reasons to be mildly concerned about his underlying metrics. The Rangers don’t present the most formidable challenge to Gilbert, but 2 earned runs can be as simple as a bloop and a blast. There could be some value on the over here, especially if Gilbert isn’t 100% healthy or is still struggling to find his early-season form.

Eury Perez UNDER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-175, DraftKings)

Perez has yet to even complete 5 innings in an MLB game this season. He’s faced 15 batters, 19 batters, and 20 batters in 3 starts since returning from injury, never throwing more than 89 pitches. Though the Marlins have been gradually stretching him out during the month of June, it’s possible that there is a cap on his workload given the team’s place in the standings and the high-end potential of the 22-year-old Perez. Tonight, the Marlins would likely be content to see him get through 5 innings for the first time this season, before handing things off to the arm barn. Perez would likely need to be extremely efficient to get a chance to come back for the 6th inning.
