MLB Player Props Today
- Gunnar Henderson o0.5 total bases
- Trea Turner u1.5 total bases
- Adam Frazier less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts
Gunnar Henderson o0.5 total bases (-150), BetMGM
It is safe to say that Gunnar Henderson, the preseason favorite for American League Rookie of the Year, is underperforming expectations to begin 2023. Entering play on Thursday, he owns a .206 batting average, with only 13 extra-base hits through 44 games played. Nevertheless, he has been much better against right-handed pitching than he has been against southpaws. Facing right-handed pitchers, Henderson owns a .231 batting average, .810 OPS, and has a 123 wRC+. Tonight, he gets to face Clarke Schmidt, who has struggled to a 6.18 FIP, 2.14 WHIP, and a .356 opponent batting average against left-handed hitters this year. We only need one base knock from Henderson in this spot – take the over.
Trea Turner u1.5 total bases (+100), BetMGM
Trea Turner has been incredibly underwhelming against left-handed pitching to begin the new campaign, posting a .194 batting average and a .614 OPS thus far in 2023. Tonight, he will have to contend with Dylan Dodd, a former third-round draft selection from 2021. Turner has only eclipsed this market number in 11 of his last 28 games played, according to props.cash. Getting this price at even money makes the under a worthwhile stab for bettors on Thursday.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Adam Frazier less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts, PrizePicks
Adam Frazier ranks in only the 6th percentile in average exit velocity, 6th percentile in HardHit%, and the 13th percentile in Barrel% in 2023, but he ranks in the 98th percentile in strikeout rate. Simply, Frazier is nearly impossible to strike out, despite the fact that he does not hit the ball very hard very often. Tonight, Frazier will carry his sub-10.0% strikeout rate into a matchup against Clarke Schmidt, who has struggled mightily against left-handed batters this year. Expect Frazier to put the ball in play in each of his plate appearances this evening.
