Monday’s 8-game MLB slate began earlier this afternoon in the nation’s capital, but there are still 7 games left to get underway as of this writing, giving the betting community plenty of time to find a few plays to their liking to begin the new week.
As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.
Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat or unlucky if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Best MLB Player Props for Monday, April 28th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:10 PM ET on Monday, April 28th:
- Bryce Elder Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
- Michael Toglia Over/Under 0.5 Total Bases
- Michael Conforto Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Bryce Elder UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-102, FanDuel)
Elder has completed 6 innings in 2 of his last 3 turns through the rotation, but it could be difficult for him to continue that trend on Monday, pitching at Coors Field. Elder is extremely reliant on his sinker, which has historically not been an effective offering at high altitude. The Rockies aren’t a high-powered offense, but Atlanta’s arm barn is rested ahead of first pitch this evening, so any signs of trouble the 2nd time through the order could lead to an early hook for Elder.
Michael Toglia OVER 0.5 Total Bases (-155, bet365)
Toglia is off to a rough start in 2025, entering play on Monday with only 2 home runs and a dreadful 45 wRC+. The good news is that he has a favorable matchup this evening against Bryce Elder, who features some variation of a fastball roughly 50% of the time against LHB. Toglia has proven woefully incapable of hitting any breaking pitches or off-speed offerings at the big league level, but he continues to do quite a bit of damage against fastballs. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him find some success against Elder.
Michael Conforto OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+125, BetMGM)
Last year, Edward Cabrera struggled mightily across the platoon, finishing the year with a 5.63 FIP and 1.66 WHIP against LHB. That means there could be some value on the lefties in the Dodgers’ lineup, which includes Michael Conforto. Conforto has been in a mini-slump of late, but he’s still walking at an elite rate and should have a good chance to come to the plate with runners on base this evening. This is great value on a talented hitter.
