Happy Monday! Major League Baseball has 13 games on tap to begin the new week, starting with an AL East clash between the Red Sox and Orioles at 6:35 p.m. ET.

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Monday, August 25th!

Best MLB Player Props for Monday, August 25

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 PM ET on Monday, August 25th:

Shane Smith UNDER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-175, BetMGM)

Smith has been a bright spot for the White Sox this season, and for that reason, the organization is going to be very mindful of his second-half workload in a year where he has already thrown a career-high number of innings. Manager Will Venable has been open with the media about this fact and specifically mentioned probably not pushing Smith into the 6th inning in certain situations.

In Smith’s most recent outing, he threw 101 pitches and completed 6 innings, but that was one night after the White Sox used 5 bullpen arms. Prior to that, Smith hadn’t faced more than 20 batters in a game since before the All-Star Break.

If Smith is above 75 pitches after 5 frames on Monday, there is a good chance that his day will be done.

Jacob deGrom OVER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-110, DraftKings)

As part of a workload management strategy after he left his last start with some shoulder fatigue, deGrom had his most recent turn in the Texas rotation skipped. However, all indications are that deGrom won’t have any workload restrictions this evening when he faces the Angels. If that is the case, this is a tremendous value opportunity given that deGrom had worked into the 6th inning in 13 of his last 15 starts prior to August 15. There is a chance that deGrom could get pulled in the middle of the 6th inning given the rested Texas arm barn behind him, but he would likely need to be extremely inefficient or get hit hard not to get a chance at a 16th out.

Edward Cabrera OVER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-135, DraftKings)

Place this bet with 1 click!PLACE THIS BET ONDRAFTKINGS

Cabrera has been hit hard in each of his last 2 starts, but prior to that point, he had been excellent. Entering play on Monday, he’s worked into the 6th inning in 5 of his last 6 outings, posting a 3.31 ERA, 2.97 FIP, and 1.13 WHIP during that span. Atlanta only has 5 LHB in their lineup this evening as well, which lessens the potential platoon advantage they could have had if stacking more lefties against Cabrera. Miami’s arm barn is relatively taxed, having used Ronny Henriquez and Tyler Phillips each of the last 2 days in addition to using Lake Bachar for 31 pitches yesterday. This could be a situation in which the team tries to get every possible out that they can from Cabrera.
