MLB Player Props Today

Justin Turner u0.5 Strikeouts (+115), DraftKings

Jose Urquidy has some of the most stark reverse splits of any pitcher in Major League Baseball. Entering play on Wednesday, Urquidy owns a 15.9% strikeout rate and a 5.59 FIP against right-handed batters, compared to a 29.3% strikeout rate and a 3.97 FIP against left-handed batters. Justin Turner has struck out in only 16.1% of his total plate appearances against right-handed pitching in 2023. This is a play with significant value for this evening’s slate.

Mookie Betts u0.5 Strikeouts (+120), DraftKings

Mookie Betts is hotter than the sun right now, no matter what metric is being used to evaluate him. During the month of August, Betts owns a .419 batting average, 1.273 OPS, and 242 wRC+. He has continued to make a lot of contact as well, with a 17.1% strikeout rate in that span. Facing Xzavion Curry tonight, who owns a pedestrian 13.6% strikeout rate against right-handed batters, Betts has a lot of value in this spot at plus money.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Freddie Freeman Less Than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks

Freddie Freeman uncharacteristically chased a really bad pitch out of the zone last night, resulting in a strikeout. Tonight, he gets another contact-friendly matchup against Xzavion Curry, who ranks in the 11th percentile in strikeout rate, 19th percentile in whiff percentage, and 14th percentile in chase rate. Freeman has struck out in each of his last five games played, which is highly unusual for him. Expect that trend to reverse itself sooner rather than later, and perhaps as soon as tonight.
