MLB Player Props Today

Brandon Williamson u4.5 strikeouts (-164), FanDuel

Brandon Williamson burned us in his last start, striking out six batters against the Milwaukee Brewers. Nevertheless, we remain steadfast in our analysis that Williamson is not someone who will consistently earn strikeouts at the MLB level. In four turns through the rotation in 2023, Williamson owns a pedestrian 19.8% strikeout rate – ranking worse than the league average in both whiff percentage and chase rate. Tonight, he has to contend with a Los Angeles Dodgers lineup that has struck out at the third-lowest clip in baseball against southpaws since May 15. The under in this spot is equivalent to pre-game layup lines in basketball – it would be extremely surprising to see him hit the over here.

Michael Harris u0.5 Total Bases (+140), BetMGM

Michael Harris has been as close to an automatic out as any hitter in baseball in 2023. Entering play on Wednesday, Michael Harris owns a .163 batting average and has struck out in 25.4% of his total plate appearances. Tonight, he must contend with Max Scherzer, who owns a 1.08 ERA and a 2.16 FIP across his last four starts. Harris could be in for another tough night at the office in this spot – take the under at significant plus money.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Steven Kwan less than 0.5 Hitter Strikeouts, PrizePicks

Steven Kwan has not been as good as a sophomore as he was as a rookie, but his 11.7% strikeout rate remains elite. Through his first 60 games played this season, Kwan ranks in the 95th percentile in strikeout percentage, 99th percentile in whiff rate, and 91st percentile in chase rate. Simply, he is one of the most disciplined hitters in all of baseball, with elite plate discipline to add to an already impressive hit tool package. This evening, he gets a tough matchup against Kutter Crawford, but Kwan is still extremely likely to put the ball in play each time he steps in the box. Trust him to get the job done here.
