Happy Saturday! Major League Baseball has 15 games on tap today, beginning at 3:07 p.m. ET with a matchup between the Giants and Blue Jays. There are 2 additional late afternoon games, with the rest of the action scheduled for a 6:05 p.m. ET first pitch or later.

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Saturday, July 19th!

CJ Abrams OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-135, DraftKings)

Abrams started the second half of his season with a bang yesterday, literally – hitting a home run in the 8th inning off Jason Adam. He gets another good matchup on Saturday against Yu Darvish, who has struggled to a 7.01 FIP and 2.08 WHIP against lefties in a small sample size since returning from the injured list. If Abrams can find his way on base today, he should have a few opportunities to cash this wager, with potentially 4 additional lefties hitting directly behind him.

James Wood OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-105, DraftKings)

Yu Darvish made only 2 starts prior to the All-Star Break, but the limited sample size we have to work with has shown him to be very uncomfortable dealing with lefties to begin 2025. He’s faced 22 lefties so far, allowing nearly half of them to reach base. Notably, he’s walked 6 of those batters, indicating that his command might not yet be refined to deal with hitters across the platoon.

Wood has demolished RHP this year, hitting .265 with a 150 wRC+. Wood enters play 0-for-17 across his last 4 games, but he’s still drawn 3 walks in that span. This is a great opportunity for Wood to break out of his mini-slump in a favorable matchup.

Ryne Nelson UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-105, DraftKings)

Nelson ended the first half of the campaign in the midst of one of the great Houdini acts of 2025. Across his final 6 starts, he turned in a 2.43 FIP, which was nearly 2 full runs lower than his 4.01 FIP. During that span, Nelson benefited from a likely unsustainable .227 BABIP and 85.0% strand rate – even more incredulous when considering he allowed a higher barrel%, higher hard-hit%, and a higher average exit velocity than the league average pitcher in that span.
Moreover, Nelson hasn’t been particularly efficient of late, averaging 3.95 pitches per batter faced during the last 30 days. Factor in that he hasn’t thrown more than 88 pitches in a game this season and there are plenty of reasons to like the under in this spot, especially with a very rested Arizona arm barn available behind him.
