Thursday’s MLB slate began earlier this afternoon in Baltimore, but there are still 7 games left to get underway as of this writing, giving the betting community plenty of time to get in on the action!
As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.
Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Best MLB Player Props for Thursday, August 14
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 3:07 PM ET on Thursday, August 14th:
- Edward Cabrera Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
- Jose Ramirez Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
- Eduardo Rodriguez Over/Under 15.5 Outs Recorded
Edward Cabrera UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-170, Caesars)

Cabrera has made it through 6+ innings in each of his last 3 starts, but he’s benefited from a likely unsustainable .116 BABIP and 100% strand rate during that time – which is even more surprising given that he’s allowed a 10.9% barrel rate and 39.1% hard-hit rate in those starts. This season, Cabrera is averaging 3.93 pitches per left-handed batter faced, compared to 3.84 pitches per right-handed batter faced. It’s possible that Cabrera could see 8 lefties in Cleveland’s lineup, which could contribute to some efficiency issues. He would likely have to be near perfect to record 18 outs in this spot, which could be difficult against a Cleveland offense that has been swinging the bats relatively well in recent weeks.
Jose Ramirez OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-130, Caesars)

Ramirez was on base twice yesterday but didn’t get the job done on his Hits + Runs + RBIs line. That shouldn’t dissuade bettors from going right back to him on Thursday in another favorable matchup. Edward Cabrera has struggled to a 4.23 FIP and 1.31 WHIP against lefties in 2025 and should see plenty of them in Cleveland this evening. Ramirez is always a threat to hit the ball over the fence, but he should also have an at-bat or two tonight with guys on base, which could allow him to cash this bet with a timely base hit. This is great value for one of the most talented hitters in the game.
Eduardo Rodriguez OVER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-130, DraftKings)

Rodriguez has allowed a lot of runs since the All-Star Break, but he’s still pitched into the 6th inning in 3 of his 4 turns through the rotation in that time period. During the last 30 days, Rodriguez has been hyper-efficient, averaging only 3.46 pitches per batter faced. The Rockies are in a somewhat difficult travel spot tonight, traveling from St. Louis to Colorado without the benefit of an off day. If there are any fatigue impacts on their offense, it will only increase the likelihood of Rodriguez pitching deep into this ballgame as Arizona tries to preserve their bullpen heading into the weekend.
