Today is the Major League Baseball trade deadline, so there aren’t many games taking place around the league. In fact, there are only 2 games on tap for this evening’s slate – the Braves against the Reds at 7:10 p.m. ET, followed by the Rangers against the Mariners at 9:40 p.m. ET. Still, we have done our best to find a few targetable betting options for the community to consider!

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Thursday, July 31st!

Best MLB Player Props for Thursday, July 31

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:10 PM ET on Thursday, July 31st:

Jurickson Profar OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-125, DraftKings)

Profar has been mashing left-handed pitching since returning to the field, hitting .333 with a 197 wRC+. This is a continuation of what we saw from Profar in 2024, when he hit .300 and had a 147 wRC+ against southpaws. Tonight, he gets to face Andrew Abbott, who has struggled to a 4.35 FIP at home against right-handed batters.

George Kirby UNDER 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-170, Caesars)

Kirby has struggled to a 5.29 ERA across his last 3 starts, but his underlying metrics suggest he’s due for at least some positive regression. He’s still throwing plenty of strikes and generating plenty of swings and misses, which bodes well for him to take advantage of a favorable matchup against a Texas lineup that is coming from Los Angeles without the benefit of an off day in between. During the last 14 days, the Rangers’ offense has been decidedly mediocre against right-handed pitching, ranking 20th with a 101 wRC+. Kirby could find some success on Thursday.

Kumar Rocker UNDER 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-115, DraftKings)

It’s difficult to overstate how bad Seattle’s offense has struggled of late. Entering play on Thursday, they rank 29th in wRC+ against right-handed pitching during the last 14 days. This evening, they have the added challenge of coming from Sacramento back to Seattle without the benefit of an off day. This is a tough spot for any offense, even against a hittable pitcher like Kumar Rocker. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Rocker limit the damage done against him.
