Thursday’s MLB slate features 13 games, including a double-header between the Royals and Cardinals. The action begins early in the day, with 8 afternoon contests, with the rest of today’s game scheduled for a 6:40 p.m. ET first pitch or later.
As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.
Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Best MLB Player Props for Thursday, June 5th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 12:15 PM ET on Tuesday, June 5th:
- Robbie Ray Over/Under 18.5 Outs Recorded
- Jake Irvin Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
- Slade Cecconi Over/Under 4.5 Strikeouts
Robbie Ray UNDER 18.5 Outs Recorded (-190, DraftKings)
Ray has worked into the 7th inning in 3 of his last 7 starts, and San Francisco’s arm barn is extremely taxed heading into Thursday’s game, which is the reason this line is where it’s at. That being said, Ray has simply not been very efficient of late, despite his excellent results. Across his last 32 innings of work, he’s averaging 4 pitches per batter faced. Today, he will have to contend with a patient San Diego lineup, which ranks 21st in swing% across the last 14 days. The juice could be worth the squeeze here.

Jake Irvin UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (+115, DraftKings)
Irvin has been among the least intimidating pitchers in baseball in recent weeks. During the last month of action, he owns an abysmal 10.9% strikeout rate and has allowed a lot of quality contact in the air. At first pitch today, the forecast has the temperature in Washington D.C. around 85 degrees, with moderate winds blowing out towards left-center field. This is good hitting weather for a Chicago lineup that ranks 2nd in wRC+ against RHP across the last 14 days and 4th in wRC+ against RHP across the last 30 days. It wouldn’t be surprising if they force Washington into their bullpen prematurely in this contest.

Slade Cecconi OVER 4.5 Strikeouts (+114, FanDuel)
During the last 14 days, there are only 3 teams in baseball that are worse than the league average in O-Contact%, Z-Contact%, and Called Strike% – the Yankees are one of those teams. Cecconi has allowed a lot of hard contact early in 2025, but he’s also missed plenty of bats, both in the zone and out of the zone. Cecconi is also near the league average in called strike%, which could benefit him today as well. If Cecconi can limit the damage done against him long enough to complete 5 innings in this matchup, he should have every opportunity to rack up some strikeouts.
