Major League Baseball’s Wednesday slate began earlier today with an array of afternoon action, but there are still 10 games left to get underway, giving the betting community plenty of options left to consider adding to their card for this evening!

As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.

Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Below, you can find my 3 picks for Wednesday, April 23rd!

Best MLB Player Props for Wednesday, April 23rd

Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch this evening scheduled for 6:45 PM ET on Wednesday, April 23rd:

Ryan Gusto UNDER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-125, DraftKings)

Gusto enters play with a 3.18 ERA and 1.24 WHIP, but there are signs indicating that he’s been more lucky than good to begin the season. In 17 innings pitched, he’s stranded 82.4% of runners and posted an 8% HR/FB rate despite allowing a tremendous amount of hard contact in the air. Toronto is an aggressive offense, which helps pitchers work efficiently and avoid long counts. That being said, the Astros got plenty of length from Ronel Blanco on Tuesday. They have a rested bullpen behind Gusto, which means they should be more than happy with 5 innings of mediocre work from him.

Taj Bradley OVER 15.5 Outs Recorded (-125, DraftKings)

Bradley doesn’t have the longest leash among MLB starting pitchers, having not thrown more than 93 pitches in any start this season. Still, he’s worked into the 6th inning in 3 of his 4 starts.

Tonight, Bradley draws a tough matchup against an Arizona offense that has been seeing RHP well, but Bradley has been missing plenty of bats and should be able to effectively limit damage against them. If nothing else, Tampa Bay probably won’t be overeager to dip into their bullpen, given that they don’t have an off day again until Monday. If Bradley is even moderately efficient, he should have a chance to come out for the 6th inning.

Eduardo Rodriguez OVER 16.5 Outs Recorded (-135, DraftKings)

Rodriguez isn’t the most popular pitcher to bet on, but he’s quietly worked into the 6th inning in 3 of his 4 turns through the rotation this season. Importantly, he’s thrown 90+ pitches in each of his last 3 starts as well.

Tonight, Rodriguez gets a favorable matchup against a Tampa Bay offense that owns an uninspiring 88 wRC+ against LHP across the last month. Rodriguez should be able to limit the damage done against him, giving himself a chance to work deep into this ballgame.
