Happy Wednesday! Today’s 15-game MLB slate began earlier this afternoon with a couple of afternoon affairs, but there are still 13 games left to get underway as of this writing. Of course, that means that there are plenty of betting opportunities still left on the board as well!
As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.
Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.
Below, you can find my 3 picks for Wednesday, July 9th!

Best MLB Player Props for Wednesday, July 9
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch scheduled for 3:45 PM ET on Wednesday, July 9th:
- Riley Greene Over/Under 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
- Lucas Giolito Over/Under 6.5 Strikeouts
- Andre Pallante Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
Riley Greene OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-125, BetMGM)

Zack Littell has struggled against lefties this season, posting a 5.25 FIP and allowing over 2 home runs per 9 innings of work. Tonight, he will have to contend with Greene, who owns a .305 batting average and 168 wRC+ against RHP. This is a very playable line for one of the better hitters in Major League Baseball, who also happens to have a good matchup.
Lucas Giolito UNDER 6.5 Strikeouts (-135, DraftKings)

This season, Giolito has a 24.3% strikeout rate against lefties but only an 18% strikeout rate against righties. Tonight, Colorado has 6 righties in the lineup. It’s also worth noting that Giolito earns a fair number of strikeouts via called strikes rather than swinging strikes. During the last 14 days, Colorado’s offense has taken the 4th-fewest called strikes in all of baseball. There is some value on the under here.
Andre Pallante UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (+135, DraftKings)

Pallante completed 7 innings in his most recent start, but it’s worth noting that he still only faced 23 batters, which is the 4th consecutive start in which he’s faced 23 batters or fewer. It’s also worth noting that Pallante hasn’t thrown more than 94 pitches in any start since the beginning of June, so the Cardinals have been mildly conservative with his exposure to facing lineups more than twice in one game. The Cardinals have a mostly rested arm barn ahead of first pitch, which means Pallante has a very small margin of error if he hopes to make it through 6 innings again.
