Major League Baseball had a collection of afternoon games today, but there are still 11 games left to get underway as of this writing, giving the betting community plenty of time to find a few plays to their liking.
As always, be sure to monitor our MLB starting lineups page throughout the day, as unexpected changes in the batting order can result in value opportunities in the betting and DFS markets.
Another reminder – it’s not a bad beat, or unlucky, if you bet a player to hit a home run and his fly ball dies on the warning track because it’s 40 degrees with the wind blowing in! Before locking in any bets, use our MLB weather page, curated by Chief Meteorologist, Kevin Roth. There are countless edges to be found if we make the right reads on possible rain delays and great hitting weather, just to name a few. Taking a look at the weather report can save us from a bad bet that otherwise looks good on the surface.

Best MLB Player Props for Wednesday, May 14th
Here are my top player prop bets for today, with the first pitch this evening scheduled for 6:15 PM ET on Wednesday, May 14th:
- Ryan Pepiot Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
- Yoshinobu Yamamoto Over/Under 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed
- Patrick Corbin Over/Under 17.5 Outs Recorded
Ryan Pepiot UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (+100, DraftKings)
During the last 2 weeks, there hasn’t been a better offense against RHP than the Blue Jays. They enter play leading all of baseball with a 149 wRC+ in that span and have scored 6+ runs in each of their last 5 games.

Pepiot has struggled with his efficiency of late, averaging over 4 pitches per batter faced across the last 30 days. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him face an early hook in this spot.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto OVER 1.5 Earned Runs Allowed (-130, DraftKings)
Yamamoto has been extremely productive to begin the 2025 campaign, but he’s not invincible. During the last month, he’s allowed more line drives, a higher hard-hit%, and a higher average exit velocity than the league average pitcher.

Tonight, Yamamoto will have to contend with an Athletics offense that ranks 6th in wRC+ against RHP during the last 30 days. Yamamoto could pitch well but still allow a pair of earned runs in this matchup.
Patrick Corbin UNDER 17.5 Outs Recorded (-110, DraftKings)
Corbin has been surprisingly serviceable as a starter for the Rangers, but it’s probably only a matter of time before we see him experience some regression. Entering play, Corbin’s xERA and FIP are both over a full run worse than his ERA. The Rockies haven’t been good against southpaws, but this is a favorable matchup for them to try to get something going.

There is also the fact that Corbin hasn’t thrown more than 93 pitches in any outing this season. There are a few different ways in which this play could cash, giving the under some value.
