MLB Parlay Piece for May 24, 2023

Atlanta Braves Moneyline

Yesterday, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Atlanta Braves 8-1 in convincing fashion to take over the best record in the National League. However, that distinction might not last long. This evening, the Dodgers will have a tough test against Bryce Elder, who enters play with a 2.06 ERA and a 3.34 FIP through his first nine turns in the rotation this year. His opponent, Tony Gonsolin, has made only five starts since returning from injury, during which he has vastly outperformed his peripherals.

Bryce Elder 4+ strikeouts, FanDuel

In nine starts this season, Bryce Elder has recorded at least four strikeouts seven times and has never recorded fewer than three strikeouts in an outing. The Los Angeles Dodgers have been swinging the bats well against right-handed pitching during the month of May. However, they still rank eighth in strikeout percentage in these situations, indicating that they are still more than capable of punching out a handful of times in this matchup. Elder has north of a 20.0% strikeout rate against both right- and left-handed batters, meaning that he will be in good shape tonight, regardless of the lineup construction Los Angeles throws his way.

James Outman 2+ total bases, FanDuel

We have had great success betting on James Outman this season, so we figured we might as well include him in the parlay for tonight’s action. Bryce Elder has been strong this year overall, but he has still allowed an abundance of hard contact to left-handed batters. Facing left-handed hitters, Elder has allowed a 21.9% line drive rate, 31.3% fly ball rate, and a 39.1% Hard Hit percentage. Outman has struggled with contact this year, but he has frequently done damage when he does manage to run into one. This is a worthwhile inclusion in this parlay.
