What are your thoughts about stacking the 5-round fights in cash games?
h3budda: Surprisingly, two 5-round fights are on this slate. The main event is a tough stack, considering Zhang has been finishing everyone early. I expect him to shine against a chinny opponent who is a layup. Sterling/Ortega is the other 5-rounder. You are looking at locking both of them in cash because of the expected volume over 5 rounds.
Moneyball16: The Zhang/Walker fight should be treated like a 3-round fight. This one has odds over 60% of finishing in the 1st round. Sterling/Ortega is a favorite to go the full 5 rounds, so it is a much better fight to stack. Sterling, along with Zhang, are cash locks, and while I will probably play Ortega in cash as well, he also has a history of not putting up the DFS points per minute that you’d expect for his caliber of fighter.
Bward586: There’s often a tough decision between which fight to stack on slates with two 5-rounders. This is not one of those cases. Zhang Mingyang is -375 in a fight that’s -4000 to end inside the distance, while Sterling/Ortega is favored to go all 5 rounds. Stack Ortega/Sterling and play Zhang.
LiamPicksFights: This isn’t a stackable main event as far as I am concerned. I believe that you have to pick a piece of the main event because both men are proven scorers. Zhang has put up 107+ points in 3 of 3 UFC fights, and Walker has put up 104+ in 6 of his 7 UFC wins. Someone is probably getting served, and only the winner will make the optimal. If you were picking a stack, the co-main event is probably a better fit, but I hate that stack too. Ortega looked like garbage on the scales. I’d rather pick a side in both fights, and I like the favorites.
Which fight are you most likely to avoid and why?
h3budda: Yizha/Wilson – Yizha is priced out for me on this slate. The tight 12-fight slate makes him very difficult to roster at $9,900 with any confidence. I expect Yizha to shine with a takedown or two. If it gets out of the 1st round, you will be happy with fading this fight.
