Monday, February 1st - FanDuel Single Game Analysis: DET @ DEN
Is your main slate lineup looking rough? Or did you not get off work in time to make one? Or just looking for a little more action? Don’t worry, FanDuel has you covered with their Single Game format. Monday night’s marquee game is Detroit at Denver starting at 9 PM ET. You can make a lineup with players from just this game. Below are some options for players to use in the MVP slot and other cheap options that will allow you to fit in the big dogs.
Top MVP Options
Nikola Jokic ($17,000) – 20 games, 20 double-doubles. It has been an amazing start to the season for Jokic who is coming off a massive 47/12 performance against the Jazz on Sunday. Despite this being the second game of a back-to-back for the big guy, he is far and away the game’s top overall fantasy option. For reference, RotoGrinders projections currently have Jokic (52.43) projected 14+ points higher than the next player in line (Jerami Grant – 38.35). It’s tough to envision a scenario in which Jokic isn’t the highest fantasy scorer in this game, which makes him an easy MVP option for your lineups.
Jerami Grant ($13,000) – With Jokic so far ahead, Grant is more of a “STAR” candidate in this one. Grant, who started out the season on fire has cooled off a bit, but still projects as Detroit’s top overall fantasy option. This will be a “revenge” game for the former Nugget who may play with a little extra motivation to show Denver he was worth the gaudy new contract he signed with Detroit.
Top Value Options
Monte Morris ($7,500) – Morris started the second half of yesterday’s game after Gary Harris exited early and seems to be the leading candidate to start Monday night against Detroit. If that’s the case, Morris could be in line for ~30 minutes of court time and is simply underpriced for an expanded role. There’s a possibility that “(player-popup #michael-porter-jr)Michael Porter Jr finds his way into the starting lineup, in which case Morris would become a slightly less alluring option. Will Barton ($8,000) should start regardless and is another strong value option for the Nuggets.
Mason Plumlee ($10,000) – Plumlee’s $10K price tag is a bit higher than what I would typically consider to be a “value” play in the single-game format but pricing drops off quickly after the $17,000 Jokic. The former Duke Blue Devil has trouble keeping his hands to himself – he’s averaging five fouls per game this season – but is still the Pistons’ best option to defend his former teammate Nikola Jokic. If Plumlee can stay out of foul trouble (undoubtedly a big if), he’ll likely end up being one of the best fantasy producers in this price range.
