Wild Card Monday – NFL Player Props
- Matthew Stafford Over/Under 21.5 Completions
- Kyren Williams Over/Under 10.5 Receiving Yards
- T.J. Hockenson Over/Under 44.5 Receiving Yards
Matthew Stafford OVER 21.5 Completions (-128, FanDuel)
No defense blitzed at a higher rate than the Vikings during the regular season. However, Minnesota struggled to get pressure on a lot of those blitzes due to struggles in their secondary unit. Tonight, this defense has a tough task, facing Matthew Stafford and a talented Rams’ passing attack.
Stafford had the quickest average time to throw in the entire NFL this year among quarterbacks to play at least 16 games. In Week 8 against the Vikings, Stafford was only pressured on 8 of his 34 dropbacks and had an average time to throw of 2.53 seconds – even quicker than his season average. He had 25 completions on 34 attempts in that matchup. Expect him to prioritize getting the ball out quickly again this evening, which should lead to plenty of quick completions.
Kyren Williams OVER 10.5 Receiving Yards (-108, Bally)
Teams that blitz at a high frequency are vulnerable to quick dump-off passes to the running back position out of the backfield. Though the Vikings actually did a relatively good job against opposing running backs during the regular season, they were still susceptible to those types of quick passes against good offenses.
In Week 8, the first time the Vikings and Rams met this season, Kyren Williams had a season-high 5 receptions for 19 receiving yards. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him involved in a similar capacity on Monday. It might take only a single catch to get the job done.
T.J. Hockenson OVER 44.5 Receiving Yards (-113, Bally)
Hockenson was kept quiet last weekend against the Lions, but that had a lot to do with the return of LB Alex Anzalone – one of the best coverage linebackers in the entire NFL. Tonight, Hockenson gets a much more favorable matchup against the Rams, which allowed the 5th-most yards per game to opposing tight ends this season. In recent weeks, Los Angeles has allowed 123 receiving yards to Trey McBride, 59 receiving yards to Tyler Conklin, and 61 receiving yards to George Kittle. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Hockenson put together a good performance.
