This weekend, we head to Chicago for the Grant Park 165 on the Chicago Streets. The race is on Sunday at 2:00pm ET on TNT. They’ve moved the race up 2 ½ hours from last season, which was a “dark” shortened race. The Chicago Street race is a 12-turn, 2.2-mile street track in Downtown Chicago. There is nothing like this track on the schedule, and it’s a unique type of road course. There is tire wear, tight racing, and small mistakes turn into big issues for multiple drivers. Both races here have had rain and been shortened due to darkness and rain. Tyler Reddick and Ty Gibbs almost won this race in 2024, and Justin Haley almost won this race in 2023. We had a lot of issues in qualifying, which has turned this race into a chalky mess. They didn’t make a lot of clean laps in practice. I’ll be looking at recent road course data, Mexico City, 2025 recent speed, practice data, Chicago data, and a few other things when building lineups this weekend.
